Frequently-asked Questions

Why is UI for Windows Phone Being Retired?

When Windows 8 was released with the concept of Metro-style apps, we responded by introducing two UI suites for it - UI for Windows Universal and UI for Windows Phone. Recently Microsoft adapted to a new muti-device development with the release of Windows 10. The goal is to deliver a truly stunning experience to its users, be it on desktop or mobile, with a single app that runs on all Windows 10 devices. As such, Windows 8 and Windows 7 and 8 Mobile have been slowly decreasing in usage and giving way to the future of UWP applications.

We are focusing on products in our portfolio which enhance your productivity by working with the most popular and rising development platforms. In that way, we’ll continue to provide the best UI and productivity tools to help developers keep pace with the latest trends and technologies.

Staying true to our calling, we are increasing our investments in tooling around the latest technologies developers need. This includes .NET related products like UWP and Xamarin, our JavaScript offerings of Kendo UI for Angular 2 and the brand-new Kendo UI for React, to just name a few.
