Telerik plans to simultaneously-ship WebUI Test Studio with Visual Studio 2010.
Telerik WebUI Test Studio consists of three main parts:
-
WebAii Automation Framework™
A .NET library for web automation of ASP.NET AJAX and Silverlight applications. WebAii abstracts out browser specifics to allow test execution against multiple browsers. The framework can also be seamlessly integrated with your favorite unit testing tool. -
Automation Design Canvas™
An enterprise ready plug-in for Microsoft Visual Studio (Team Suite & Professional) that enables both scriptless and scripted automation recording. You can build automation in minutes versus hours using the simple but powerful recorder. The recorder brings a new set of innovations into the web testing market including an Automation Overlay Surface and a Sentence Based verification editor. -
Automation Design Canvas™
An extension of the above-mentioned Design Canvas which allows you to automate all your testing needs for RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX. We have exposed a rich set of verification tasks that will enable you to easily test the rich web applications you have built with RadControls. Testing a wide range of scenarios takes just minutes of recording and playback in both Internet Explorer and Firefox.
Q3'09delivers the industry-first codeless solution for Silverlight UI test automation, in the upgraded WebUI Test Studio. Furthermore, custom-developed translators for RadControls for Silverlight are also shipped with the Studio to facilitate quick and easy building of tests against Telerik Silverlight controls. The release also brings in quite a few new features and optimizations. With Q3 WebUI Test Studio will be released in its Beta version. Official release to be expected early December.

Among the highlights of the release are:
- Test Automation for Silverlight Applications – Now you can benefit from UI object model that covers the complete list of UI elements in Silverlight, and use a rich feature set with very little limitations.
- Integrated translators of RadControls for Silverlight – Thanks to the integrated control translators, your team no longer needs to worry about testing applications built with Telerik Silverlight controls.
- Another supported browser: Safari for Windows – Users will now be able to expand their browser compatibility testing to another major browser: Safari for Windows.
- New Automated Overlay Surface – The new Overlay Surface offers a modern and intuitive menu to choose from numerous verification types. A brand new 3D view also ships with the Q3 version of WebUI Test Studio. Accessed through the verifications menu, this new feature allows users to dissect the DOM hierarchy and target a specific element using a new 3D visualizer.
- Easy to use Drag & Drop UI - A coordinate system helps you choose the exact place to drop the element by defining the coordinates through pixels or percentages.
- New slick storyboard - The screenshots of your testing actions are now ordered in a coverflow-like sequence, which allows users to easily navigate through the captured steps.
- Support for XUnit & MbUnit - WebUI Test Studio expands its unit framework support to include XUnit and MbUnit in addition to NUnit and Visual Studio unit testing framework.
- Test Explorer enhancements - Now you can also use common actions such as do/undo/copy/paste to configure your test steps. What’s more, now users can start recording at a specific point in the test.
- Build FindExpressions using a new intuitive UI - FindExpressions are the base for all element searches in the DOM Explorer. With Q3 release WebUI Test Studio features intuitive interface to enable users to build FindExpressions by modifying a rich and extensible search definition pattern.
