Accessibility Support

Market’s Most Advanced Accessibility Features

Telerik has always been interested in supporting developers and organizations committed to building applications accessible to people with disabilities. This is why Telerik is devotedly working on delivering highly accessible UI components to help you give everyone equal access to your application without having to write any code.

Components Built According to W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and Section 508

Telerik’s ASP.NET AJAX controls follow the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0/2.0 which set the standards for applications providing accessible content. According to how many of the guidelines are followed in building the app, W3C defines three levels of accessibility conformance: “A”, “AA” and “AAA”.

What is more, RadControls also conform to the technical standards set out in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the law that requires that all Federal Agencies make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities.

Applications built with components adhering to these guidelines will not only be accessible to people with disabilities, but also to users of all kind of devices and interfaces: desktop browser, voice browser, mobile phone, automobile-based personal computer, etc.

You can find the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) of RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX here.

Industry’s Most Accessible ASP.NET AJAX Editor

Although all RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX have accessibility levels "A" through "AAA", Telerik is particularly proud of the accessibility enhancements implemented in the RadEditor which made it the first accessible web-based rich editor on the market. Built with ease-of-use in mind, RadEditor was even selected by the Royal National Institute of Blind People for their new accessible website.

RadEditor for ASP.NET AJAX integrates with a real-time accessibility validation solution called Compliance Sheriff® Accessibility Foundation Module™ (AFM) for SharePoint®. Developed by HiSoftware, the leaders in automated content compliance solutions, the Compliance Sheriff will check the authored HTML output directly from the RadEditor interface.
