This chapter demonstrates how to build applications with several different types of presentation using Telerik OpenAccess ORM. Each quickstart illustrates a series of tasks that support the topics in Getting Started. These quickstarts are designed to help you become familiar with Telerik OpenAccess ORM.
What You Will Learn
The first task shows you how to create the SofiaCarRental database. The SofiaCarRental database is used as the relational data source in the quickstarts. In subsequent quickstarts, you will create several types of applications (WinForms, WPF, Silverlight, ASP.NET Web Application, ASP.NET Web Site, MVC 4) in Visual Studio and perform CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) operations with the SofiaCarRental domain model.
The quickstarts are intended for users who are familiar with Microsoft Visual Studio development and Microsoft .NET Framework, but who are new to the Telerik OpenAccess ORM. To complete the quickstarts, you must have the following software installed:
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.
- Telerik OpenAccess ORM. You could download Telerik OpenAccess ORM from here.
- Access to a relational database. For more information, read Supported Databases.
- SofiaCarRental database. The first topic in this chapter shows you how to create the SofiaCarRental database.
- Some of the quickstarts require specific Telerik controls installed.

For more advanced demos, you could refer to the OpenAccess Samples Kit. It is an easy to use resource browser that includes various demos and relevant information for the developers. The samples are grouped by technology (ASP.NET, Silverlight, WPF, WCF, N-Tier, etc.) and can be filtered by programming language (C# or VB.NET) and complexity (levels 100-400). The OpenAccess Samples Kit is intended for browsing the code samples offline, so it should be downloaded and installed separately from the Telerik OpenAccess ORM product.
