The oldest idle connection is tested every 2 minutes. If it fails the validation process it is closed and discarded and the next idle connection is tested. This process gets rid of stale connections after a database server has been restarted or a network problem. This feature can be disabled by using the Test con when idle property. The test interval in seconds can be changed by using the Pool test interval property.
