Just curious whether version 1.0 of the telerik Reporting will have charting capabilities in one form or another?

I am currently using ActiveReports, and although their solution's charting is weak and buggy, I still use it and depend on it.  So, in order to switch to a new reporting solution, I would need rudimentary bar and pie chart capabilities.

Good question, Robert. I agree with you that basic charting is an essential feature for a full featured reporting product. Hopefully telerik will be able to leverage their experience with chart to deliver simple graphing in version 1 of reporting.

I'm looking forward to the early betas later this month. =)

Thanks~

Hello Todd,

For sure we will add charting functionality for the 1st version. We will use the charting engine from our r.a.d.chart WebControl and wrap it in a report item. Also we’re planning to equip it with a wizard and advanced designer for fast and easy setup of the chart item.

Svetoslav,

That's great news. Thanks for the update.

I noticed in another thread that the reporting development "isn't' going well" and that we may not be seeing any betas in September. Can you clarify the modified timeline and let us know (generally) when the first betas might be available?

Thanks~

Well, Todd, if we knew, we would have posted this information in the Forums :)

Unfortunately, we are not sure ourselves when the first beta will be released. Our ambition is for the last week of September, but there are some uncertainties which stop us from being definite. I will do my best to post an exact date as soon as we have a firm confirmation from our development team on the beta release date.

Sorry for this.

Rob,

It's really no trouble. I'm just trying to make sure I adjust my own plans accordingly as we plan to quickly test and integrate r.a.d.reporting into one of our applications once it is available. I just want to stay on top of major changes to the product delivery dates so we can update our own customers of possible delays in the "enhanced reporting tool". =)

Thanks~
