Kind of related to my last question...

Is there any sort of versioning of data?  I appear to be able to just delete story information and it saves when I go back to View Stories...and I cant get that data back.  Does it version by user?

Hello Steve,

Data is saved automatically at all times. We do not currently support an 'undo' feature. We have taken the approach of the 90/10 rule: 90% of the time users are going to enter data correctly and will want the changes they make, so we made the system as smooth as possible for that majority of usage scenarios.

Can we GET version history by any chance for a future release?

My PM read the response as
"We feel it's okay for users to screw up critical data 10% of the time"

Ultimately he's the one I'm trying to get hooked on it

Hi Steve,

We do audit all data changes as they happen, and we also are versioning data nightly to provide information consumed in our charts sush as the burndown. So the bones are there, we just need to provide a way for users to view the historical data, and perhaps even revert back.

I do know that displaying the history for a story is on our radar and I believe this is scheduled for our Q3 release (October timeframe I believe). I'm not sure if we have scheduled any kind of 'undo' or 'revert to version' functionality at this time, but we will certainly note the interest in it and prioritize it accordingly.

Hopefully you can get your PM onboard, as we believe that TeamPulse is a great product and will be improving leaps and bounds with every release going forward.

All the best,
David Harris

Posting here since my question is related.  As far as I can tell there is still no support for Undo and History only gives a voluminous high-level list of changes made (no details which would allow you to copy and paste a previous entry).  This is a big drawback.  Is there a way to fetch previous content or plans to support it in the near future?
Thanks,
(a different) Steve

Hello!

I miss this information too visible at TeamPulse, but I know is in there anywhere, because when we sync to TFS we can see every change with the data after and before (I think that changes before the first syncronization are also there).

So If you have a problem and you can sync to TFS that could be a workaraound to recover your data till they can implement this into TeamPulse.

Steve, I'm sorry to hear this missing feature is causing you trouble.  We haven't had a lot of requests for this feature yet but that certainly doesn't mean it would not be a good thing to add.  I've found the need for this on a few occasions myself but fortunately those instances have been quite rare.

I've added this feature request to our internal feedback portal and we'll continue to discuss it and prioritize it along with our other feature requests.  As Dave mentioned earlier in this thread, all the information we would need is in the database, we just need a good UI for allowing users to go through the old values and select the ones they want to roll back to.

Raquel, that is a very clever workaround and it could be useful to many of our TFS users.  Thanks for posting.
