Version upgrade information request

Hi all,

Our customer is using a Telerik version 2008.3.1125.20. However, when upgrading to the latest windows server (test environment), many of the components are not working.

They plan to purchase the latest version of the Telerik, but before that, they need some information:

1. Is the new version drastically different from the version indicated above. Meaning, do they have to re-write a lot of code?

2. Can the existing system work as it is (with minimal changes at the script level without touching code-behind) till such time their procurement process goes through?

Please do let me know. Apologies for the brevity. I will respond to questions that you may have with regards to the environment or any other matter.

Straight to the points:

Meaning, do they have to re-write a lot of code? - Drastically not, but there are a lot of changes like many new controls, skins, properties and rendering improvements that could require additional configuration and project changes.

2. Can the existing system work as it is (with minimal changes at the script level without touching code-behind) till such time their procurement process goes through? - It depends on the used controls and customization applied to them.

efore stating an upgrade of your project, you may find it useful to review the following resources:

• The Known Issues and Important Changes sticky thread. It lists changes that may affect your code and known regression issues (that are usually fixed in the subsequent release). Review the information for the releases you go through so you can evaluate whether you will be affected by anything.

• UI for ASP.NET AJAX Release History—reviewing the release notes for all releases you go through will let you see what has changed, what fixes, features and controls have been implemented so you are better prepared to meet your project's challenges.
