I need to upgrade from version 5.3.2.0 to 5.8.x and was looking at your instructions here:  http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/upgrade_to_a_newer_version_of_radeditor_for_moss.html

I am perplexed to say the least, in fact these instructions do not seem like something anyone would do.  Is there not a more direct, easy and straight forward way to upgrade this web part?  Or is this document out of date?

I would NEVER want to remove all existing WebParts since they all might have content that users have posted.  Can you please provide me with the detailed instructions to upgrade without having to delete all the previous WebPart?  Once upgrade, all the previous WebPart hosuld use the new control, correct?  Otherwise I would have hours of extra work on my hands...right?

Hi Cyrus,

The mentioned article is the one that describes how to upgrade to a newer version of the control: http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/upgrade_to_a_newer_version_of_radeditor_for_moss.html. There is no other article and it describes what you need to do in order to keep all previously created webparts. You do not have to delete them, but you need to add the proper SafeControl and dependentAssembly elements in the web.config (Steps 3. and 4. of the article.). If you have any problems following steps 3 and 4, provide me with the web.config file of your MOSS site and I will help you further.

So again I ask, what exact steps do I take to upgrade to a newer version.  Do I bypass step one?  Or uninstall the solution without disabling the features?  Or perhaps run the upgradesolution stsadm command?  Your documentation is lacking in this regrad.

Hi Cyrus,

1. Uninstall the current version of the control (regardless of disabling the features): Uninstalling RadEditor.
2. Deploy the new version of the solution Installing RadEditor in a MOSS 2007 farm.
3. If you want the previously created webparts to work, follow steps 3 and 4 in Upgrading to a newer version of RadEditor for MOSS
