I recently installed the latest Q3 release of the ASP.NET control suite. On a newly created test project, I tried to run the Upgrade Wizard.

I get the following error, repeatedly::

"Error retrieving latest version information. Please, try again or contact the Telerik team."

So, I am contacting you as requested <g>

FYI, running VS2008 under Vista, as Administrator.

Also running Microsoft Security Essentials, and I temporarily turned off the firewall, but this had no effect.

    Hi Tom,

    Thanks for the details!
We're checking the webservice logs to see if the problem is related to some error there. Can you verify you can access the https://www.telerik.com/services/ProductVersion/Service.svc URL through the browser? This is the location of the service.

    Kind regards,

I can verify that I do have a problem accessing the service with the link provided.

Returns "Not authorized .... 403.6 ... forbidden IP address ..."

My ISP is Verizon, current IP is 138.88.33.68.

Physically located in Falls Church, VA, which has never been considered a suspicious location <g>

As I downloaded the latest update yesterday, I am pretty sure I have the latest production version, and that is good enough for me now, so this is not a priority bug for me.

    Hi Tom,

This is to notify you we already fixed the problem. There are no official releases yet (the VSExtensions still do not support upgrading to Latest Internal Builds), hence there are no newer versions available.

Anyways, thank you for helping find the problem!

P.S. Your Telerik account is updated.

    Kind regards,

    1) I have confirmed that I can now run the "upgrade" function, which now tells me that no update is available.

    2) I do not understand your comment about my account being updated. If you are referencing the IP address provided, bear in mind this is dynamically assigned by my ISP and changes periodicallly.

By account being updated - they mean that they are giving you Telerik Points - which can be used to reduce your upgrade price.  They sometimes 'hit' your account in hours, but sometimes days.  It's kind of a reward for helping them better their product.  It's AWESOME!

    Hi Tom,

I'm sorry for not being clear.
I meant that your account was updated with some Telerik Points.
