I am attempting to install TelerikControlPanelSetup_2016_4_1317_1 but it keeps returning a message of "Unexpected error has occurred...Application needs to shutdown". I am running Windows 10 Pro version 1607 (OS Build 14393.693).

What I have done:

Uninstalled the old Telerik control panel

Uninstalled ALL installed Telerik packages

Disabled antivirus

Checked for windows updates

Rebooted numerous times

Additional information, the install for the control panel has my credentials and automatically attempts to proceed with the installation without any action on my part. I wonder if it has cashed the correct password for my account? I have found no way around it autoinstalling so that I can retype my password.

More information, the install for the control panel has my credentials memorized and automatically starts the install without any action on my part. I am wondering if it has the correct password? I have found no way to prevent it from autostarting so I cannot type in my password.

Hi Marion,

Thank you for writing us.

I have checked the error reports from your user account and it seems the Telerik Control Panel is unable to connect to our data services.

I would suggest to check with your Network Administrator if there are any network restrictions preventing the Telerik Control Panel from connecting. The following addresses should be accessible:
  1. https://www.telerik.com/services/ProductVersion/Service.svc
  2. https://identity.telerik.com/v2/oauth/telerik/token
  3. https://dl.telerik.com/runtime/v1/info/CP
  4. https://dle.telerik.com/tracking/v1/events
  5. https://downloads.cdn.telerik.com

Another thing to try is adding an Exception in your OS's Firewall system for the Telerik Control Panel application.

In case the above services are accessible and there are no network restrictions I would suggest to perform the following steps in order to clear the user data file stored on your machine:
  1. Navigate to %appdata%\Telerik\Installer\UserSettings\ folder
  2. Delete the User.data file
  3. Launch the Telerik Control Panel and give it another try

Please let us know if the issue still occurs.

Regards,
Dyanko

Thank you for your reply. I apologize for bringing this problem to this forum. Our network admin is in the process of configuring a new firewall and he has been ultra conservative about it. Basically, everything is blocked until you make a formal request to have something white listed and then it will be considered. They have white listed Telerik and I was able to install everything. My problem is solved and I appreciate your help and patience with me.
