Hi Icenium people!

Good to see it's all going well :-). I have created a basic app with json going to it and using js for some bits and bobs, but I am struggling to get to grips with the ui. Like to make it feel like an iOS app, to make it look different etc (I am primarily a web developer) but I cant grasp the whole navigation idea and all this other stuff for the UI.

Are there any good resources out there at the moment looking at such issues?

Hello Ian,

As a web developer you will enjoy the Icenum and the ability to bridge web application with native APIs.

You can chose what look and feel you want for your app, and write it as normal mobile web site if you wish, but to give you fast track we provided two great mobile UI frameworks right out of the box.

1. Kendo UI Mobile (you get free licence with Icenium) is a framework that provide consistent look with native apps for the Android and iOS platform.

2. jQuery Mobile is on the other hand unified UI framework to provide same look across all platforms.

You can try both and see witch is the best fit for your ideas.

You can also check the great overview in our blog about what is a hybrid app.

@Jordan,

I see that you can create new views but how do you add your own icons to the navigation?  I created new tabs in the navigation, but the tabs are blank and don't have icons.  Is there a way to add my own icons to the new tabs?  Is there a way I can replace the default icons with ones I want to use?  I didn't see much in any of the documentation to do this, or how to do this.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Carlos,

Icons are specified via the data-icon attribute and yes, they can be changed if needed.

If you are using jQuery Mobile, then check the following article from their docs.
If you are using Kendo UI Mobile, then check this article instead.
