I am sorry to hear that you have encountered troubles with the Toolbox integration of the RadControls.
We have encountered an issue when you have the latest version of RadControls for WinForms (Q1 2012 or newer) and an older version on the same machine. In this case some controls are missing from the Toolbox. If you have older version of the RadControls for WinForms I suggest you to remove them if it doesn't interfere your work. I want to let you know that we have implemented change that will resolve the issue and prevent it from happening in future.
You can try to resolve the duplicated Toolbox items by resetting the Toolbox (right-click the Toolbox and select 'Reset Toolbox').
I hope this helps.

I am sorry to hear that the Toolbox reset didn't help.
Multiple Toolbox items appear when the Toolbox items data that Visual Studio creates is inconsistent. We have created a simple tool that cleans all Telerik data that might be inconsistent. I am attaching the tool and writing below the steps you need to take:
- Close all Visual Studio instances
- Run the TelerikToolboxCleaner tool
- Select RadControls for WinForms from Telerik Suite drop down
- Click Execute
- Click Yes to the dialog letting you know that the default toolbox settings will be restored (a new instance of Visual Studio will be opened automatically before this dialog appear)
- Start Visual Studio manually
- Use the Toolbox Configurator to add the latest RadControls in the Toolbox
This should resolve the Toolbox issue. If you need any further help, please write us again.
All the best,

That will teach me to upgrade!
When the Toolbox cleaning utility doesn't help then the problem is usually caused by the ToolboxControlsInstaller package. This is a Visual Studio built-in package that is responsible for managing third-party controls in the Toolbox. It is possible that for some reason this package has stopped working properly. To fix it you should repair your Visual Studio installation.
I hope this helps.

The reset did not return the toolbox.
Ran the Toolbox Cleaner and that did nothing
Neither did the menu option in the Telerik menu - Launch Toolbox Configurator
What now ?
As you have opened a support ticket further communication will continue there. I am closing the thread.

I'm such a fool for listening to this advice.
Yeah - my Telerik 2017 controls shown in the Toolbox were fixed :) WOOHOO!
Oh wait a sec...ALL OF MY OTHER 3RD PARTY CONTROLS HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND THEY ARE NO LONGER IN THE GAC
THANKS FOR MAKING SURE I HAVE AT LEAST 12 HOURS OF RE-INSTALLING TO DO.
As you also opened a ticket which contained more information about the actual issue further communication will continue there.

Nikola
Progress Telerik
Nikola was correct - and I was an idiot. The entire setup was a mass of confusion and miscommunication from my company's purchaser and my developers. We did not purchase NEW LICENSES - instead they purchased UPGRADES. Meanwhile, Telerik has a fun little tool built into VS that allows me and my developers to flip back and forth between versions with relative ease.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, Nikola - it was a very stressful day and that's no excuse for me blowing up like that. I apologize.
