I have a crosstab report with expand/collapse functionality (toggling in Telerik). When I export the data the toggling (grouping in excel) is not exported with the data. Is there a way to do this ? I want to export the report with all the functionalities.
Find the attached image file for more information.
Thanks,
Parth

As stated in our Excel Rendering Considerations, the interactivity in excel formats is limited to:
Microsoft Excel 2007 and above format supports hyperlinks, which are rendered as Excel hyperlinks in the cell in which the text is rendered. Microsoft Excel 97-2003 format does not support any interactive features.
So in short, drill-down actions are not supported in excel.

Hello Elian,
I am facing the same problem and i am using Telerik reporting Q1 2015. Is it possible to export report to excel 2007 for getting toggling feature in Q1 2015.
Reports are rendered in Excel based on the Design Considerations for Excel Rendering(includes descriptions of both XLS and XLSX formats), where the native Excel groups (collapse/expand regions) are not supported.

Hi Stef,
We have some drill down reports created in Telerik stand alone report designer and we have hosted it in ASP.net web application using telerik Reportviewer control. When we export the report into excel the entire results are exported, but our client want to have the collapsed/aggregated records and the details separately when exporting to excel as they are displayed in the report. The + symbol is not appearing in the excel. I have given the screenshots.
Thanks,
Daniel
Drill-down actions are not supported in Excel format. For more details, please check my previous post in the thread.

Hi Stef,
Thanks for the information. Do we have an option to expand all the group of a drill down report from a single user event like, expand-all option. Currently when drill down is collapsed and when we export data to excel only the collapsed data is exported.
I am exploring this option because if user has 100 groups and he wants to export the entire dataset then it will be difficult for the user to expand all the drill down groups to export the data.
Thanks,
Daniel
Hi Stef,
I have implemented the expand all option in Telerik report designer by adding a check box and Checkbox properties -> action ->selecte toggle visibility option ->Edit toggle targets to expand and display the drill down details.
thanks,
Daniel
Hello Tyler,
The functionality hasn't been modified. You may check the Expand/Collapse All Toggle Visibility Actions Simultaneously KB article for a workaround.

Thank you Todor,
I am looking to export to excel with grouping. I have found ways to expand collapse all in a table in a much simpler way than the article. (I added the action toggle to the highest level / header of the table). I was researching and found that there is an ExportBegins event that may be used to accomplish this. In Args, there is a handled property that if true will prevent further execution. Is there a way we can use this to manually group excel ranges in a report? We would basically build the workbook manually. Is there a .cs file available that we could examine to accomplish this?
Hi Todor,
As a work around to exporting to excel with grouping, we would like to export to excel with filtering enabled on all header rows of a table. What is the easiest way to go about this? I am not looking to filter data in the report but to apply the excel filter when exporting.
Hello Tyler,
Indeed, the Report Viewer's exportBegin event handler you may cancel report export if the required document format is Excel. Then, you may use the ReportProcessor to render the report in Excel format, and modify the Excel document as required before sending it to the client. See Exporting a report to a single document format for sample code and details on programmatic report export.
