I am having a strange problem theming the RadListView control using the Visual Style Builder in Telerik RadControls for WinForms, Q2 2011, SP1. RadListView no longer appears in the Controls structure at all, for any of the themes! Here is the sequence of events that lead to this:

1) I exported all of the built-in themes to *.TSSP files.

2) I then opened the Office2010Silver.tssp package to use as a starting point for my custom theme.

3) I made some modifications to the theme for the RadButton and RadListView elements.

4) I saved it under a new name (say MySilver.tssp).

5) I integrated it into my application to test it.

6) I found some issues with my RadListView theming, made some changes, saved, and tested again.

7) Now I can't see the RadListView element in ANY of the themes, either the built-in ones or my custom theme, even if I exit and re-start Visual Style Builder.

I would appreciate any help that you can offer. Thanks!

Hi John,

Thank you for writing.

I have followed several times the steps you have described, but I was not able to observe such behavior. Would you please provide us with some more details about this case like some screenshots which describe which items are missing. If you have received an error message, it would also be useful to know what the message was.

At this moment I can only suggest uninstalling any previously installed versions of our products and make a fresh install of the one you are using.

Please let me know if this helped you. Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Ivan,

I am reluctant to just uninstall and re-install. Telerik hasn't adopted the Microsoft approach to problem-solving, have you? :)

Attached is a screenshot of the Visual Style Builder with the Office2010Silver theme loaded after a fresh export. Note that RadListView should be right after RadListControl, but is missing.

Any other ideas?

I just figured out the problem. I had a shortcut that was pointing to an older version of the Visual Style Builder tool that didn't support the RadListView. Just to be safe, I uninstalled the old version of RadControls for WinForms. All is well if I use the VSB that goes with Q2 2011 SP1.

Sorry for the silly mistake!
