Hi, I am not English, but I think that "wanted" is wrong, it should be want's or wants, because wanted is past.

But maybe I am wrong? What do others think?

Anyhow, looking really forward to the new release.

Bye, Mike.

Quite interesting to see were the people come from. Of course, a lot of entries are from the US, as I expected, but there also entries from Malta, Poland, Marocco, Taiwan... .

What will happen if the puzzle is not completed by April 23rd?

My guess is a WPF/E control or generater.  Or at least I hope.  That would be worth some hype.  I would love some flash like graphical control to go with the amazing logic control I get with asp.net.

I have tried flex and it has nice graphics but is like going back to asp.  I won't go back.

Is there some irony that the page anouncing a new asp.net tool is written in flash.  Right click over the puzzle and you will see that it is running on the flash player.  :-(

I would guess the next releas will have the following in it:

  • New Manager for Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX. Inspired by the design-time capabilities of telerik radAjax, the new control will offer completely codeless development experience, but this time with the Microsoft's ASP.NET AJAX framework.
  • New set of widgets built on top of ASP.NET AJAX (color-picker, screentip/tooltip, slider/scroller, spinner, split button, etc)
  • New major version of radInput introducing numeric, currency and percent input controls as well as a base version of a skinable textbox input.
  • New major version of radChart
  • New major version of radDock
  • Just a lucky guess :-)

No realy - My guess is they have sped up the development of an image processing combinded with a gallery tool.

    rad.gallery

    or

they have bought goolge since the bought double click to promote the telerik tools better.

    Integration of search
rad.search is a possiblity as well

Just my 2 cents on this matter.

    Regards Markus

For me (at this point of time), the WPF /e Silverlight stack appears to target Flash / Flex and focuses on media (e.g. competitor for the booming video market which currently uses flash).

At this point I am not sure how exactly this will influence the UI market, e.g. will a Silverlight grid control exist, how would it be better than DHTML grid, etc. Also, I have seen posts hinting that Silverlight will work tightly integrated with MS AJAX, so I do not believe it to be an attempt to substitute DHTML / Javascript the way we know it for the past.. eh.. 10 years.

Just my two cents. But it's a bit early before Mix 07 to tell what is really going on.

The upcoming MIX07 should be very interesting ... So ... telerik ... will there be any WPF/E inclusion in the upcoming release?

xceed announced a full WPF/E release by MIX.  WPF/E is a subset (1.4 MB subset) of the full WPF platform.

Given Microsoft's predatory capitalistic posture - and the attention they are investing in the WPF / XAML platform, all of us need to pay close attention.  And if you don't agree - it doesn't take many memory brain cells to recall the whole hype of .NET / .aspx vs. .asp or the Visual Studio IDE vs say Dreamweaver hype of the not too distant past.  Every one of us now has "come to our senses" and for the most part are developing .NET apps.

Microsoft has also released their full Expression suite - and it's not weak.  They are clearly drawing the line in the UI sand - and is declaring a statement they will own the RIA space of soon future.  Maybe they will ... or ...

Prepare yourselves - and be proactive.

Telerik - it seems to me that WPF and XAML should be on the radar.

    Gp.

    rad.puzzle

Just drag it to your VS, choose a background and send mails to all your customers to unlock a secret. You get lots of traffic on your site. People will check back regulary to your products and if for any reason your marketing dept. has some money you can trow in a big price.

Which would be a pony :-)

Silverlight + Compiled C# = No More Javascript (well almost)

Now why are they making such a big deal out of the 1MB Download size for silverlight, not much room for dotnet, and seems silly if you can fetch an HD stream then hey you can probably download 10MB in the blink of an eye :-)

Unless when you compile a silverlight app it includes only the framework components needed, this would be a really cool solution to versioning.

    Hi all,

My hope is for some flash based controls like I-Load (link)- this is one area that I think Telerik could make some major plays.

RadActive only have one flash product that allows image upload/resize/manipulation, but it shows what is possible by linking flash UI with an ASPX control and actually fills a gap in Telerik's suite (so maybe the Vault has an image control radImage?).

If you see now the puzzle the image it's pretty clear...it's a simple "safe" that I suppose has in its own internal the answer...But we all know that Telerik surprising us every time...so if the "hiding surprise" is the hiding itself? I mean...perhaps the thing wich Telerik will surprise us is the tecnology itself that there is behind the puzzle system! So something like Miscrosoft Silverlight...RADFlash or something like that!!!
I suppose that because, if so, it will be not the first time that Telerik is a piooner in a particular technology (we all remember the R.a.d. Callback) so I suppose that now is the first company that produce something like the Microsoft Silverlight

    That's it.

    Alright, that's 3 posts I've made, can I reveal a second square?

    Happy birthday, Art!

Thanks for the guesses. I can confirm that the RadProgrammersClock will not be coming out this Monday, though I definitely wish we had 30 hours a day right now! :)

Stay tuned...I have a feeling we may reach the unveiling today...

If a pony comes out of that bloody thing, I'm not going to be happy. Not even if it's a r.a.d.Pony! 8-)

It's not a safe you know.

It's the San Quentin gas chamber. All that is going to happen is that we open the door to find that Telerik has simply gassed all the developers from Infragistics and Component One.

Na! No need, the guys at telerik towers beat 'em to a pulp fair and square with r.a.d.Controls. No contest there.

As long as the pony is Ajax enabled I don't care!  An Ajax-enabled rad-Pony with Silverstream support would be really cool though...

Good move on Silverlight ... we'll see what that entails.

For those of you that are disappointed, I'm sorry to hear it. Did you really expect a pony? ;-)

Oh well, no R.A.D.Pony but the scheduler looks like a great addition. So does the SilverLight stuff. I'm not dissapointed that's for sure.

I really liked someones suggestion about a r.a.d. Flash component. That would be fantastic as it's a pretty bland and painful component segment. The Component1 Flash component is very limited on what it can do. The Aspose.Flash is great, but has very little documentation and samples and can be difficult to program. Other solutions out there just don't cut it as they're just straight objects on top of the swf file format specs or they're non-managed code with a managed wrapper. Keep this in mind for the Q2 release please, it would be a fantastic addition.

    Mark

P.S. It's ok about the pony, especially since it requires r.a.d. scooper and r.a.d. barn.

In particular I'm loving the possibilities behind RadScheduler - especially as I'm about to start writing an application that will need this functionality! Telerik just made my life 100x easier in that regard.

RadInput sounds cool too - especially now you can just have a drop-in replacement for ASP:TextBox that takes all the telerik skins - no more trying to hack your CSS to make it look like telerik controls.

Here's a quick write up i've just put together with my views, comments welcome.

Does the new RadBull give you wings?  Or maybe the one that allows you to work longer without taking a break (kind of a beta to RadProgrammers Clock)

Is the RadFairy the one that takes your scoping document and creates the application?

Can't wait to see the live examples!
