Hi ruty,
The default templates for RadMenuItem reserve space for Icon on the left side. If you want to place it on the right side you have to edit the templates and modify them according to your specific needs.
Editing templates can be easily done in Blend 2 (drop RadMenuItem instance, right click it and select Edit Control Template).
