Test Studio will not "reconnect" with web application

Hi,

I'm running into an issue where after a logging into the web application Test Studio wont recognize the window that appears after logging in. And none of the steps I have after logging in will execute. The way our application works is after the user enters log in information the window closes and reappears (see screenshots 1 and 2). When recording for this test Test Studio Connects to the new window but no new steps are created. The URL through out all of this does not change (it's not supposed to). The only way I can work around this is by putting a pause after clicking "log in". Is there a step I'm missing? I've already tried the wait for element, wait for URL, execution delay and all of that. The problem is that when running the test Test Studio is not reconnecting to the window at all.

Hi David,

Anytime a new browser window opens Test Studio is supposed to automatically detect it and connect to it. Your third screen shot is what you normally see when Test Studio detects a new browser window and is in the process of connecting to it. It should finish connecting after a few seconds and our recording toolbar should appear at the top of the new window. In addition a "Connect to popup" test step should be recorded.

Can you tell me if the connection succeeds after a few seconds, or does it get stuck as shown in your third screen shot? Does Test Studio record a "Connect to popup" step?

If not I'll need to find a way of reproducing this problem on my machine using your application so I can diagnose why it's not working as expected.

It finishes connecting but a connect to pop-up test step is not recorded.

Hi David,

There's no obvious reason why recording is not working as expected. When the login screen closes and a new window opens Test Studio is supposed to recognize the new window and automatically connect to it.

Your screen shots show Test Studio is trying to connect to it but for some unexplained reason the process fails with your application. Since this is a recording problem we need to be able to reproduce the problem on our local machine so we can investigate and determine what is causing it.

To that end, is there a publicly accessible URL we can connect to? If not our next best option is to get a Fiddler trace of your application running normally in a browser. We have about a 75% success rate using the Fiddler trace to simulate your web server and reproduce problems that way.
