Hi All

We are currently  migrating one of our application from which is built on Third Party software( don't want to name it)  to Telerik . The Application is an Windows Forms application and we need to get rid of the existing Third Party software and move that to Telerik. The existing applications has lot of Grids  with features such as expand , collapse and filtering . Apart from that the application also contains Advanced Grid Grouping controls, Advanced Grid Navigation controls. It also contains Advanced Split Container's , Advanced Tab Page and Advanced Tree . I can see these controls available in Telerik UI for Windforms but not sure which would be best suitable product Telerik UI for Windforms or Telerik UI for WPF. Any Suggestions or Recommendations on the same will be highly helpful .

Hi Aswin,

Thank you for migrating your application to Telerik.

Both of our suites are mature enough to offer a complete set of controls capable of handling almost all of your requirements out of the box.

Regarding your question about the platform of choice, I must say that this is your decision and you need to weigh the pros and cons for each. Important factors are the systems on which your application will run as well as the experience of your team. Please also note that WPF applications tend to consume more resources, however, they are DPI independent and provide native 3D support.

In our WinForms suite, we have developed a framework(TPF - Telerik Presentation Framework) which is inspired by WPF and all of the visual elements are organized in hierarchies. The framework provides all controls with themes, animations, and property binding. For specific information about the different controls, you can refer to our documentation as well as our demo application.

I hope this helps. Should you have further questions please do not hesitate to write back.

Hi Hristo

Thanks . That helps a lot. The Application would be a windows forms application built on .Net Framework 4.5 , Main intention for migration is Our Client wants to get rid of the existing Third Party software and move on to Telerik. The main concern would be like application consist of lots of grids ( Databound Grid , Grid Grouping Control, Grid Navigation Control  ) so we are on the verge of using telerik for these controls and would Winforms be best suite for these Controls and we are quite new to Telerik on the whole what about the learning curve with respect to Winforms and WPF ?

Response would be highly Appreciated

Hi Aswin,

Thank you for writing back.

Generally speaking the WinForms technology has been around for quite a long time and developing an application is pretty much a straight forward process. Besides the documentation excellent getting started resources are the demo application which installs along with the suite as well as our video portal: http://www.telerik.com/videos/winforms. The source code of the examples used in the demo application is also available and it can be found in the installation folder of the controls.

Please note that this is a WinForms forum and if you need some specific information about our WPF suite I suggest you create a new thread specifying WPF as your product or opening a support ticket.

I hope this information was useful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
