I am having difficulty syncing my Task app with Outlook. My Outlook is connected to my phone's Window's Live account (I am using a Windows Phone 7). When I enter the server name (m.hotmail.com) I receive a synchronization error that  says Task cannot find the specified host. Am I doing something wrong?

Hello,

We do not support WindowsLive. We support only Office365.com or self hosted Microsoft Exchange server 2007SP1+.

This is the reason why you can not sync.

Thanks, Valentin. The Task app description on the WP7 website says that the app will soon have synchronization capabilities with gmail. Is this still in the pipeline?

Yes - this is in the product features we want to add. I don't want to stick to any specific date however, but this is definitely the plan.

I keep trying to sync my tasks (Windows 7 phone) but I continue to fail. I never used outlook before but I created an outlook account just so I can sync my tasks but it still doesn't work. Can you please give me step by step directions on the simplest way to sync my tasks. I really love and rely on this task manager and if anything happens to this phone or my tasks I'M SCREWED! Will I get a notification when you reply to this thread? If not, please email me at cee.samuel@gmail.com

Hi,

You should fill the listed fields like that:

  • in the username field enter your username
  • in the password field- your password
  • in the email field- your email

 In the More details section:

 Please, verify that you’ve filled as described above all required data and try again.

Like I said, I am new to outlook and don't really understand it. I don't know how to find out what my username is and I definitely do not know what the server is (or what that even means)? I will just create a new outlook account if you could explain to me how I should configure/set it up OR what type of email address I should use with it (gmail, yahoo, hotmail...)?? I think the USERNAME and SERVER are my main problems.

Hello Sam,

You need to have an ExchangeServer 2007SP1 or newer. If you do not have this - you will not be able to sync your data.

You can ask your email administrator about the information we listed below.

Whet I tried to sync  Tasks app with Exchange 2010 I  get a  errort: We are having a problem connecting to your server.
Technical Error: Object reference is not set to an instance of an object.

I already sync my calendar, mail, contact and tasks via standard func in Windows Phone.
To achieve that, I had to install a certificate. Do I need another cert to connect with Tasks app?

I am having the same issue. 

Technical Error: Object reference is not set to an instance of an object.

Is there any resolution for this?

Hi David,

Thank you for contacting us. So far, our research has showed that Hotmail.com/Outlook.com don't have a concept of a task. Some of our users have suggested to treat the calendar entries as tasks, so this is something we'll be looking into for future versions of Tasks.
Soon, we'll be releasing Google Tasks support for our Windows 8 application so it will not be long until we have the feature on the phone as well. Stay tuned for updates!

Yes Hotmail/Outlook.com/WindowsLive does have a concept of a task. On the website calendar and on the phone, at least since Mango days. Hotmail is Exchange powered and these guys sync tasks with it http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/tasks/55fcf880-6b03-e011-9264-00237de2db9e
What am I missing?

Hello Craig,

You are right - Hotmail.com does support to-do lists and this is in our plan for the future versions of the tasks app.

The previous confusion comes from the fact that there are now too many wrapper web sites around the MS live accounts (live.com, outlook.com, office365.com, Hotmail.com, etc).

So in short - yes we are working on enabling you to sync your tasks with your Microsoft Account.

Hi,
what's the conclusion now for sync with office365 via office.com (WP7.8 with latest update)?
It has been working perfect till feb 2013. May be Microsoft was changing sth. Since then - no sync possible any more.
I've sent a mail to support with all data, but no response...

Hi Johann,

We're able to successfully sync with our test office365 account by filling the form in the following manner:

Email: guest@trialtelerik.onmicrosoft.com
Username: guest@trialtelerik.onmicrosoft.com
Password: *************
Domain: trialtelerik.onmicrosoft.com
Server: https://pod51049.outlook.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
Check the "Server requires SSL" checkbox.
Click on the Authorize button (it should be visible now - below the form fields). 

Do you fill yours in the same manner?

Hi,

I love ur app tasks for my new windows phone. I am trying to sync it with my tasks lists located on my native calendar which syncs with outlook.com and my outlook program. Is this possible? Right now I do not have any type of server I just use my outlook.com acct and my computer outlook software.

can it be done through office 365?

Thank you for your feedback!
Synchronization with Hotmail.com/Outlook.com is not supported yet but it is something we’re looking into.
The latest version WP1301 supports synchronization with Exchange 2007+, Office365 and our own Telerik Cloud synchronization solution which allows for full task/category/project synchronization among devices (windows phone 8, windows 8 desktop, windows 8 tablet).

Dear Telerik support,

I really love your Tasks app! It works great with my Windows phone! However, I'm having 1 problem, it only seems to sync old tasks. I've connected it to our company's Exchange 2010 server and it shows some tasks per category, but I'm missing new tasks that were added from my Outlook client (even though they are synced, since they show up on Exchange OWA).

Could you please help me? I only have 8 days of trial left, and if this can be fixed on my phone, I am more than happy to purchase! :)

The reason for not being synced the created at the phone tasks is that OWA synchronization is not supported.

Hello Erwin,

Please follow the instructions below for setting Exchange synchronization account up:

·                     in the username field enter your username

·                     in the password field- your password

·                     in the email field- your email

·                     the value of the server field enter https://mailxyz.org/EWS/Exchange.asmx, where https://mailxyz.org is your server

·                     do not fill the domain field, its value is extracted automatically from the e-mail if nothing is entered into that field and check the "Server requires SSL" checkbox.

I am very interested in using your app on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.  However, I need to sync to Hotmail / Outlook.com tasks.  I noticed that you mentioned you were working on this and wanted to know if you have a version that it works in now or will soon.

Hi Rob,
For now much more prior is to fix the reported issues, related to the newly launched Telerik Cloud synchronization, included into v.WP1301. Outlook/Hotmail sync will not be included into next version of Tasks- that is the only clear as timeline info for now. After releasing the next version, we will prioritize again the pending tasks.

I installed the Tasks app on my Dell Venue Pro 8 tablet running Windows 8.1. I specified our server name https://uscorp.stgit.com.. I am getting the error message Server URL cannot be found..I also tried adding the "/EWS/Exchange.asmx" as indicated in this thread and I am getting the same error. For some reason it is unable to resolve the URL.. but I am able to access the server directly from a browser from the tablet.. can yoo tell me what I could be doing wrong?

Could you, please verify that the server is 2007+ Exchange server?
Also,  what about the domain filed- did you entered any value into it or left it to be auto-filled?

Yes. it is 2007+ server. The domain field should be filled as uscorp according to my admin. But I tried filling it as uscorp and also tried leaving ot blank. I was getting same error.

Could you, please do a simple test- try to add your email  account  as an Outlook account directly at the phone and comment if possible?

Hi,
We are asking to try to add your account outside Tasks at your phone in order to eliminate/ confirm if the reason is due to account/ phone security issues (many users of Tasks use the Exchange synchronization without any issues).
We need your exact server value to ensure that  for some reason it is not shorten or not accepted by the validation.

I was able to add my exchange server account for outlook email and calendar purposes without any issues. When I enter the SAME server details in Telerik tasks, I get an error message specified URL not found. Now from the same tablet, I open a browser and access the same server without any issues. So, I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

I've purchased the Telerik cloud sync option on my win 8 tablet, but it is not syncing between two win 8 tablets.

Why would this be?

I'm also having sync problem with my Windows RT Surface tablet.
I bought all features of the Tasks app, General, Audio notes and location.

When I select sync on the tablet, I get a "synchronization error" message.
That's it. Nothing happens.

Please help.
I have spent 6.47$ on this app for nothing.

Forgot to mention I'm using the Telerik Cloud option.
No gmail. No outlook.
Just trying to sync between computers.

I have now uninstall an reinstall the Task app on both the tablet and the PC and I get the "synchronization error" on both devices.

I never got a reply to my question about this, and the sync never worked.

I eventually moved on to another tool that synced.

Frustrated that I wasted money when it would not, in fact, sync across two Windows 8 devices.

It should be mentionned in the Store that the app won't work on Surface tablets.
So people wouldn't loose their time and money for nothing...
Unless you develop a solution ???

I have problems connecting to Office 365 from the Tasks app on my Windows Phone (W10). I get an error 440 Login Timeout. In the Exchange Server settings I entered these data.
Email: pej@4d.dk
Username: Peer Jørgensen
Password: ***********
Domain: [blank]
Server: https://outlook.office365.com/owa/4d.dk/ews/exchange.asmx
Server requires encrypted connection: Yes

Hi Peer,

About a month ago, due to similar issues with changes introduced in various APIs used by the application, we decided to put down the application for the current moment until we are able to invest more resources in order to make it good for the latest and greatest technologies. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience. At the moment, I am not able to provide any specific time frame in which the app will be back live and working properly.
