telerik rad controls in expression blend

Hello,

I am using telerik silverlight controls. I created a new radcontrolsivlerlightApp(for silverlight 5, telerik rad controls not working if i open for silverlight4) in visual studio and wrote some code.

when i tried to open the MainPage.xaml in blend4, i am unable to open the design for the mainpage.xaml page.

Can you please suggest how can i overcome this?

Did you get this figured out?  I am having the same problem.  Basically if I put any telerik control in my xaml page, I cannot view the design in Expression Blend

- SL5 RadControls
- Microsoft Expression Blend Preview for Silverlight 5

I had the same problem. Telerik controls for silverlight 5 doesn't open in Blen5 preview.
I have used Telerik controls for SL4 and used Blend4.

You can download the older version.You also get the older version when you buy Telerik controls for SL5.
 I got RadControls for Silverlight Q1 2012 SP1, this is for SL5 and downloaded RadControls_for_Silverlight4_2012_1_0326_DEV_hotfix.

I believe that I have this fixed.  The problem was that some of my RadControls were SL4, and some were SL5.  After making sure that all RadControls being used were SL5 instances, everything is working fine in Expression Blend Preview for SL5.

Indeed you are right! Only SL5 assemblies will work with Microsoft Expression Blend Preview for Silverlight 5.
SL 4 assemblies work correctly with Microsoft Expression Blend 4.
It is not recommended to mix assembly versions in this way - you will avoid such undesired behavior.

Cool!  Thanks for the verification Vanya.

The last problem that I'm having is how to install the SL5 RadControls such that the controls show up in the VS Toolbox.  The install that I found a while back for the SL5 versions of the controls wasn't much of an install at all.  I unzipped the build to a directory and started using them from there.  Is there a full install for the SL5 versions of the RadControls?

Hello Brad,

The items are added automatically in the toolbox only by using our installer packages.  You could use your Telerik account in order to download and install the product.

If you do not want to do so, you could manually add the items in the toolbox. More information on how to do that you could find here: http://www.telerik.com/help/silverlight/installation-adding-to-vs-2010-toolbox.html.
