Hi,

There seems to be some inconsistency in the assignment of telerik points, especially when it comes to the forums.  Personally, I have noticed that when I report a bug or submit a feature request though you’re ticketing system I often receive points.  But if I request a feature or report a bug though the forum I only receive points on occasion. An exception to that would be white-paper like posts or responses which seem to attract points fairly consistently.

If someone suggests a new feature and it is accepted as a good idea and added to your list of features to implement, then the person who suggested it should probably receive some sort of point reward even if it was as a forum post. After all, isn’t one of the main reasons for having the point system to get good user feedback and improve your products?

I understand that this is one of the major difficulties of this type of reward system. But I thought it was worth discussing. After all, this section is for the good and the bad; and in this case it concerns both.

Telerikians (users of telerik controls) what has your experience with point assignment been like?

Cheers,
Brad

Hi Brad,

We are sorry for this inconsistency. Next week I will review your tickets and will update your Telerik account with the missing points.

The reason for not adding the points is human - we have new team members who forget about this and some replies go by unnoticed. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

As to feature requests vs. bug reports - we reward both. You can see our rewarding policy here. In case any of you feel that you have not been awarded points, please drop us a line and we will fix it for you.

Kind regards, Nikolay

Hi Nikolay,

You don’t have to bother reviewing my tickets. And I kind of think you missed the point I was trying to make; being the difference between points assigned to forum posts and tickets.

No-one else has bothered to respond, so I guess others either just report bugs and requests through the ticket system or have not noticed any difference.

I like to post feature requests though the forums so that others have a chance to voice opinion. Do you think this is appropriate? Should I just send ideas I have through the ticketing system?  Forum Example:  http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/thread/b311D-bkaakd.aspx

Brad

Hello Brad,

Thank you for writing back.

We updated the Telerik points which we noticed we have missed. Generally, there is no difference between support tickets and forum posts, regarding the points rewarding system. You should receive points in both cases.

As I mentioned, the reason for not adding points, when needed, is human. In case you feel that you have not been awarded points, do not hesitate to write us and we will fix it for you.

This is really wonderful. I have a nice plan to launch a service website. I love telerik controls so much and I wanted to use them all over but always concerned about spending $799 for telerik suit and was delaying the site development for that reason as running tight on money due to current financial situation. I am solution architect and have a good say to companies. I hope I can earn few points by recommending products and reduce load on myself.

Thanks for coming up with such a brilliant idea.
