Hello,

I'm currently upgrade my Windows Phone 7.5 to Windows Phone 8.  I tried to added the telerik phone controls in VS2012.  However I get the response that "The following controls were successfully added to the toolbox but are not enabled in the active designer".  How do I make them active?

Thanks.

Hi Tom,

Could you please take a look at this article:

...and let me know if it helps. Also, I'd suggest you take a look at the comments.

Hi Kiril,

Thanks for the link.  I should have stated in my previous post that I have added the controls manually to the toolbox.  The problem is the controls do not show up in the toolbox.  The Telerik references are available within the project because I'm using the Telerik RadTextBox and RadHubTitle.   I'm wondering if this is an issue upgrading a project from VS2010 to VS2012?

Thanks.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for writing.

I have tried to reproduce the issue by creating a Windows Phone 7.5 project and adding the Telerik tools to the Toolbox, upgrading it to a Windows Phone 8 project and re-adding the Telerik tools to the Toolbox without experiencing any issues.

The exact steps are:

1. Create a Windows Phone 7.5 project and add the Telerik controls from the Primitives assembly to the Toolbox.
2. Upgrade the project to Windows Phone 8
3. Remove the old Telerik references and reset the Toolbox.
4. Add new items to the toolbox from the Primitives assembly by following the same routine as before.

Can you please share details about your approach? Having the exact steps that you're taking will be helpful in determining the reason for the behavior.

This issue goes beyond Telerik.

The problem with the "solution" stated by Telerik is that, all previous additions to the Toolbox that may have been added indirectly by some process will disappear when the toolbox is reset. Thus, all the previous work will need to be redone.

a methodology for making "Inactive Controls" in the toolbox "Active" is a better solution.
