App developer superheroes, designers and tech enthusiasts: we welcome you all to our Telerik Hackathon discussion group. Here you can ask questions, get to know other participants, form teams and discuss all topics related to our first European hackathon, scheduled for October 17-19, 2014 at the Telerik HQ in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Anyone and everyone with a cool mobile app idea, is welcome to participate. Teams or individuals will have 48 hours to build a functional mobile app using Telerik Platform, showcasing best-in-class user experience, originality and utility.

We will not limit contestants to a specific topic or theme. You can decide whether your application will be business oriented, or focus on a social challenge. At Telerik Hackathon, we will be looking for a functional mobile app using Telerik Platform that showcases best-in-class user experience, originality and utility.

Where can we find some logistical information about the event? I'd like to know if there will be Wi-Fi/cable internet connection on site, if we can stay at the premises of Telerik during the whole hackathon, can we find food and beverages around the place etc.?

- There will be Wi-Fi at the venue (Telerik Academy). Please, bring your own laptop/devices.
- You can stay and code at Telerik Academy during the entire 48 hours. The venue will be open overnight.

We're excited at Telerik to host all app developers this coming weekend. To add to the fun of the event we'll be hosting games on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we'll be playing Hide-and-Tweet. We'll be hiding colored tickets throughout Telerik Academy. Look out for white, green and one black ticket. The finder of the black ticket will win a GoPro Hero camera! See the rules for this game below. Sunday we'll be engaging you with our Selfie game. We hope you're as excited as we are. See you all this weekend!
Telerik “Hide-and-Tweet” Scavenger Hunt Official Rules
By participating in Telerik’s
“Hide-and-Tweet” Scavenger Hunt you agree to comply with these official rules, which are a binding contract between you and the Sponsor (as defined below). Without limitation, this contract includes indemnities to the Sponsor from you
and a limitation of your rights and remedies. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Twitter, Inc.
DESCRIPTION: The “Hide-and-Tweet” Scavenger Hunt (this “Scavenger Hunt”) begins on October 18, 2014 at 10:00 am (EET) and ends (a) when all prizes have been redeemed by the ticket finders and/or (b) October 18, 2014 at 10:00
pm (EET) (the “Scavenger Hunt Period”) whether or not all tickets have been discovered. Twenty-one (21) tickets will be hidden throughout the Telerik Hackathon event location and dispersed through the three floors to be found by participants. Each ticket will need to be taken to the “Social Media Station” where prizes will be given to the ticket finders. Each ticket has a different prize to be awarded with it (T-shirt or other Telerik branded gear). During the
Scavenger Hunt Period, Telerik AD (the “Sponsor”) shall post on its Twitter page various messages about the Scavenger Hunt, including clues as to where the prizes can be found (the “Clues”). Participant to find a ticket
prize in a location shall be deemed a winner (“Winner”) of such prize. The winner will need to post a photo on their Twitter Page in order to take the prize with them.
As a condition of participating in this Scavenger Hunt (except where prohibited by law), each participant unconditionally accepts and agrees (A) to comply with and abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor, including the interpretation of these Official Rules by Sponsor and Sponsor’s decisions in all matters relating to this Scavenger Hunt, which shall be final and binding in all respects and (B) not to damage or cause interruption of this Scavenger Hunt and/or prevent others from participating in this Scavenger Hunt. Whether a Winner receives a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

(e.g. spouse, partner, mother, father, legal guardian, in-laws, grandmother, grandfather, brother, sister, children or grandchildren) and household members of such individuals, are ineligible to participate in this Scavenger Hunt or win a prize. “Immediate family members” shall mean parents, step-parents, grandparents, legal guardians, children, step-children, grandchildren, siblings, step-siblings, spouses or in-laws. “Household members” shall mean those people who share the same residence at least three months in a year. All state and local laws and regulations apply.
PRIZE: Sponsor will provide Prizes (T-shirts and Telerik branded gear) at Sponsor’s sole discretion. If prize is awarded but unclaimed/forfeited by recipient, prize may not be re-awarded, in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Limit of one (1) prize per family or per household. Other restrictions may apply.
GENERAL PRIZE CONDITIONS: All details and other restrictions of prizes not specified in these Official Rules will be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Prizes cannot be assigned, transferred, or changed except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. No substitution, transfer or cash equivalent of a prize or any portion thereof permitted, except by Sponsor in its sole discretion, in which case a prize of equal or greater value (or cash equivalent, in Sponsor’s sole discretion) may be awarded. In the event there is an alleged or actual ambiguity, discrepancy or inconsistency between
disclosures or other statements contained in any Scavenger Hunt promotional materials and the terms and conditions of these Official Rules, such alleged or actual ambiguity, discrepancy or inconsistency will be resolved in Sponsor’s
sole discretion. The Winner shall be solely responsible for compliance with all state and/or local taxes, and the reporting consequences thereof, and for any other fees or costs associated with the applicable prize. If a potential Winner is considered a minor in his or her state of residence, at Sponsor’s option, the applicable prize either will be awarded in the name of the parent or legal guardian of the potential Winner.
UNAWARDED PRIZES: If a ticket prize is not found or otherwise awarded to an eligible participant during the Scavenger Hunt Period, or if such eligible participant has not complied with these Official Rules or declines a prize for
any reason prior to award, such potential winner will be disqualified and such prize may go un-awarded. In addition, if any potential winner does not accept or use such potential winner’s entire prize, the unaccepted or unused portion
of such prize will be forfeited and Sponsor will have no further obligation under this Scavenger Hunt with respect to such prize or the portion thereof. No post-prize consideration (payment to redeem or obtain the prize) is required.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY / PUBLICITY RELEASE: By participating in this Scavenger Hunt, except where prohibited by law, each participant (i) agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and (ii) grants to Sponsor and its affiliated/subsidiary companies the right to publicize such participant’s name, address (city and state of residence), photograph, testimonials, voice and/or other likeness of such participant recorded, photographed or otherwise taken at the Telerik Hackathon by a Telerik representative or by the participant himself (and/or any information as may be provided by such participant) in any media now known or hereafter devised, throughout the world, in perpetuity without additional compensation or consideration, notification, review or approval.
LIMITATION ON SPONSOR’S LIABILITY. By participating in this Scavenger Hunt, except where prohibited
by law, each participant agrees to release, hold harmless, and indemnify Sponsor and its affiliated/subsidiary Entities (collectively, “Released Parties”) from any liability whatsoever for injury, damage or loss of any kind (including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property) that may occur, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from (A) the participation in this Scavenger Hunt, (B) the acceptance, receipt, possession and/or use or misuse of any prize.
GENERAL CONDITIONS / FORCE MAJEURE: By participating in this Scavenger Hunt, all participants agree that the Released Parties (i) shall not be responsible and/or liable for any of the following, whether caused by Sponsor, the participant, or by human error, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated
with or utilized in this Scavenger Hunt: any altered, incomplete, lost, late, misdirected, illegitimate Scavenger Hunt - related correspondence or materials; any virus, error, omission, interruption, defect or delay in transmission or
communication; technical or mechanical malfunctions; interrupted or unavailable cable or satellite systems; errors, typos, or misprints in these Official Rules, in any Scavenger Hunt related advertisements or other materials; failures of electronic equipment, computer hardware or software; lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled or delayed electronic communications or information; and (ii) have not made any
warranty, representation or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law (whether now known or hereinafter enacted), with respect to the prize(s), including, without limitation, to such prize’s quality, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The Released Parties assume no responsibility for any damage to a participant’s computer system that is occasioned by accessing the “Telerik” Twitter Page or participating in this Scavenger Hunt, or for any computer system, phone line, hardware, software or program malfunctions, or other errors, failures, delayed computer transmissions or
network connections including without limitation, those that are human or technical in nature. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Released Parties are not responsible for lost, interrupted, inaccessible or
unavailable networks, servers, satellites, Internet Service Providers, websites, or other connections; or for miscommunications, failed, jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected computer, telephone or cable transmissions;
or for any technical malfunctions, failures, difficulties or other errors of any kind or nature; or for the incorrect or inaccurate capture of information, or the failure to capture any information. Sponsor reserves the right, in
its sole discretion, to (A) disqualify any individual if Sponsor believes, in its sole discretion, such individual to (i) have supplied false information; (ii) be tampering with or impairing the participation process, administration, operation, security, fairness or proper play of this Scavenger Hunt, including without limitation, receiving information as to the specific whereabouts of a prize from a source other than the Clues, such as a Telerik employee or representative; (iii) to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, or (iv) be acting in an unsportsman-like, obnoxious, inappropriate, threatening, illegal or disruptive manner, or with the intent to disrupt or undermine the legitimate operation of this Scavenger Hunt, annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, and (B) prosecute and seek damages and other remedies from such individual to the fullest extent permitted by law, even if the disqualified individual may have been notified or announced anywhere as a potential Winner. If, in the sole discretion and exclusive judgment of
Sponsor, this Scavenger Hunt (or any portion thereof) becomes compromised in any way, Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, modify or suspend this Scavenger Hunt, (or any portion thereof), including selecting Winners from among all
non-suspect eligible participants. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to
be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.
Sponsor’s failure to (or decision not to) enforce any provision in these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE ANY ONLINE SERVICE OR WEBSITE
OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATIONS OF THIS Scavenger Hunt MAY VIOLATE
CRIMINAL AND/OR CIVIL LAWS. IF SUCH AN ATTEMPT IS MADE, SPONSOR MAY
DISQUALIFY ANY PARTICIPANT MAKING SUCH ATTEMPT AND MAY SEEK DAMAGES TO THE
FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
DISPUTES: Except where prohibited, by participating in this Scavenger Hunt, except where prohibited by law, each participant agrees that: (i) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or in connection with any prize awarded, determination of the Winner or any other matter relating to this Scavenger Hunt that cannot be resolved between such participant and the Sponsor or its affiliated/subsidiary entities shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the state courts located in Sofia, Bulgaria; and (ii) any and
all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in the Scavenger Hunt, if any, but in no event attorneys’ fees. Under no circumstances will participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and participant hereby waives, any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased or claim indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, attorneys’ fees, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses incurred (if any), not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars ($250).
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein, in no event shall any participant seek or be entitled to rescission, injunctive or other equitable relief or to enjoin or restrain the production, distribution, exhibition, operation or other exploitation of Sponsor’s property or production, this Scavenger Hunt, any website, content, advertising or other materials used, displayed or issued in connection with this Scavenger Hunt, and such participant’s rights and remedies in any such event shall be strictly limited to the right to recover damages, if any, in an action at law. All disputes, issues and/or questions concerning this Scavenger Hunt, including the rights and obligations of the participant and Sponsor in connection with this Scavenger Hunt, or the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Bulgaria without giving effect to
any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Bulgaria.

or for any technical malfunctions, failures, difficulties or other errors of any kind or nature; or for the incorrect or inaccurate capture of information, or the failure to capture any information. Sponsor reserves the right, in
its sole discretion, to (A) disqualify any individual if Sponsor believes, in its sole discretion, such individual to (i) have supplied false information; (ii) be tampering with or impairing the participation process, administration, operation, security, fairness or proper play of this Scavenger Hunt, including without limitation, receiving information as to the specific whereabouts of a prize from a source other than the Clues, such as a Telerik employee or representative; (iii) to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, or (iv) be acting in an unsportsman-like, obnoxious, inappropriate, threatening, illegal or disruptive manner, or with the intent to disrupt or undermine the legitimate operation of this Scavenger Hunt, annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, and (B) prosecute and seek damages and other remedies from such individual to the fullest extent permitted by law, even if the disqualified individual may have been notified or announced anywhere as a potential Winner. If, in the sole discretion and exclusive judgment of
Sponsor, this Scavenger Hunt (or any portion thereof) becomes compromised in any way, Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, modify or suspend this Scavenger Hunt, (or any portion thereof), including selecting Winners from among all
non-suspect eligible participants. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to
be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.
Sponsor’s failure to (or decision not to) enforce any provision in these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE ANY ONLINE SERVICE OR WEBSITE
OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATIONS OF THIS Scavenger Hunt MAY VIOLATE
CRIMINAL AND/OR CIVIL LAWS. IF SUCH AN ATTEMPT IS MADE, SPONSOR MAY
DISQUALIFY ANY PARTICIPANT MAKING SUCH ATTEMPT AND MAY SEEK DAMAGES TO THE
FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
DISPUTES: Except where prohibited, by participating in this Scavenger Hunt, except where prohibited by law, each participant agrees that: (i) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or in connection with any prize awarded, determination of the Winner or any other matter relating to this Scavenger Hunt that cannot be resolved between such participant and the Sponsor or its affiliated/subsidiary entities shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the state courts located in Sofia, Bulgaria; and (ii) any and
all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in the Scavenger Hunt, if any, but in no event attorneys’ fees. Under no circumstances will participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and participant hereby waives, any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased or claim indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, attorneys’ fees, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses incurred (if any), not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars ($250).
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein, in no event shall any participant seek or be entitled to rescission, injunctive or other equitable relief or to enjoin or restrain the production, distribution, exhibition, operation or other exploitation of Sponsor’s property or production, this Scavenger Hunt, any website, content, advertising or other materials used, displayed or issued in connection with this Scavenger Hunt, and such participant’s rights and remedies in any such event shall be strictly limited to the right to recover damages, if any, in an action at law. All disputes, issues and/or questions concerning this Scavenger Hunt, including the rights and obligations of the participant and Sponsor in connection with this Scavenger Hunt, or the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Bulgaria without giving effect to
any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Bulgaria.
PRIVACY POLICY: Any personal information supplied by you to Sponsor will be subject to, and treated in a manner consistent with, Sponsor’s privacy policy posted at http://www.telerik.com/company/privacy-policy.
