I was playing around with having dynamically hidden columns (hiding columns with no data) when I noticed some strange behaviour. In my data, I have quite a few potential columns, however it's rare that more than half of them have data (hence hiding them). So, I made a really wide table (say 40cm) with all columns and then programmatically hid the columns - works great. My page size is set to Legal Landscape, so I have about 30cm of space. When columns are hidden, there is no horizontal overflow and everything fits on a single page. However, if there are enough columns visible to cause the horizontal overflow, the extra content is properly moved to another page - the problem is that other tables in the report get corrupted and only the first column is visible.

I have attached a couple images of a sample report that exhibits this behaviour. I'm happy to provide the original, however I don't believe I'm allowed to attach report files.

Hi Simon,

Only images can be attached in public forums.
Please test to use Telerik Reporting R2 2016 SP1 as there are changes in the paging mechanism which may resolve the issue.

In order to investigate the issue further, elaborate which version of Telerik Reporting is used and how to reproduce the problem. You can post the code for generating the report and sample data in CSV format which will allow us to create a demo locally.

Feel free to open a support ticket and send us the requested information there.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Regards,
Stef

Hi Stef,

Thanks for the heads up regarding the new release. I installed it and re-tested, however the issue persists.

I have come up with an even simpler demo of the issue - no bindings required. See instructions below + attachments of the result.

  1. Create new blank report
  2. Set report width wider than the page size (in my example, 20cm is wider than A4)
  3. Add table to report and put some data into the table
  4. Preview
  5. Print Preview

See attached images. I can submit a support ticket if that is the preferred method.

Hi Simon,

We managed to reproduce the problem with the provided information. It is logged in our system for improvement.
Your Telerik points are updated to thank you for bringing the issue to our attention.

For anyone concerned, the issue seems to be related to to the Horizontal paging of a report with a Table item. The issue is reproducible in R2 2016 release.

Stef

Hello Simon,

Thank you for your understanding.
We will aim to provide the fix as soon as possible (in an internal build most probably). There is no ETA for the fix, but the development team is working on the task.

Stef
