Hi all,

we might be interested in using OpenAccess for a migration project. The existing user base is using Pervasive P.SQL as database system. Are there any plans to support Pervasive P.SQL beyond the timeframe of the official roadmap?

regards,
Jens Eden

Hi Jens,

thanks for your interest and feedback.

We think beyond 12 months, but we don't plan or commit in such time intervals. As you can see from the roadmap, we are pretty busy thoughout the year adding those databases, where we received high demand for. So certainly, there is a chance for 2010, but again, it depends on customer demand. We might do another database survey later in the year to evaluate this further.

Kind regards,

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for contacting us.

Currently, we have not scheduled the support for SQL Anywhere 11 in detail yet, but it should happen throughout the year. Please see our roadmap again upon our Q2 release in summer.

Is there any chance of being able to get hold of a mostly-working internal build prior to actual release of SQLCE support? We've got a project that needs an ORM but we need to be able to support SQLCE. We need to release by mid-summer so unless we can get something early, we will probably have to select another ORM (which we don't really want to).

Thanks

Hello Jim,

Thank you for your interest in Telerik OpenAccess.

Unfortunately we can not commit to provide support for SQL CE by mid summer and we can also not provide a preliminary version which would do so.

Best wishes,

Dear Telerik Admin

Spring is nearly over and we are waiting for SQL2000 to be supported.
Can you give us a timeline for Q2 Release?

Thank you

Hi Urs,

Thank you for contacting us.

SQL2000 support is scheduled for Q2, which will be available most-likely in July, so shortly after Summer begin.

All the other new databases will not make it for Q2, but remain on the list for this year.

Sincerely yours,

Hi Guys,

Sorry if this is a noob question but I'm just about to get started using OpenAccess ORM. Is SQL Server 2008 Compact (http://www.microsoft.com/Sqlserver/2008/en/us/compact.aspx) compatible with it?

Thanks!

Hi Paolo,

SQL 2008 Compact Edition is not supported yet, but will be the next one to be added. This is currently scheduled for our Q3 release, which is approximately 4 months away.

You can start with any of the supported ones and switch over with your later without additional work (makes only sense if you do not need reverse mapping / schema first approach, i.e. generating the object model from your schema).

Hello Joe,
We do not plan support for MS Access at the moment and I dont believe we will have it anytime soon. We have other databases on our list which are set higher priority according to surveys done in our community.
Hope that clears the situation.

Hi,

MSSQL 2000: Is it supported yet?

I have developed against SQL 2005 and after deploying to SQL 2000 I get
"Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or higher required"

Please advise if it is allready ready for download or when it will come: Also will this scheme of developing against 2005 and deploying on 2000 will work when SQL 2000 is supported?

Best Regards

Hello Gunnar,

yes, MSSQL2000 is fully supported. And developing against 2005 and deploying on 2000 is also supported, though I would always recommend to use the databases that the deployment uses in development too.

Kind regards,
Thomas

Are there any intentions to have Excel support (such as ready Excel or CSV files -- like in Silverlight?)

Thanks!

Hi Dimitar Kapitanov,
Which of them (Postgres  and SQLIte) will be fully supported in OpenAccess Express, I mean free?
Thanks,

Hello Stanley,

OpenAccess Express always supports free databases. So once we add a free database, it will be added in OpenAccess Express as well.

So according to this both will make it to the Express Edition.

Please see our roadmap for details.

I just installed 2009.3 and I am getting the same "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or higher required" that was mentioned by Gunnar when I try to create classes from my SQL 2000 database.  Is there something that needs to be done to get this to work with SQL 2000?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hello Daniel Riley,

You need to specify the driver as 'ntds' for connecting to SqlServer 2000. This can be done using the 'Backend Configuration' wizard and selecting 'ntds' for the 'Database driver' property. This adds the following attribute in the app.config file
<backendconfiguration id="mssqlConfiguration" backend="mssql" driver="ntds">

You can find more information regarding the driver, here.

Best wishes,

Is SQL CE version 4.0 already supported in OpenAccess or should we stick with 3.5 for now? If it's not supported, are there any plans to support it?

Hi Jakkie Esschert van den,
It will be supported in the upcomming Q2 release. The last internal build has beta support, but for the Q release we will support real paging as well.
