Hi All,

I'm trying to use the StyleBuilder website to stylise the telerik controls/skins. What I'm finding is the "Colorise" functionality works but "Fine Tune" doesn't. Is anyone else seeing this problem? Or is this a known problem?

Kind regards
Sidharth

Hello,

I have tested your scenario and it has some problems with IE and Chrome, but works as expected in FireFox.

It was mentioned several times that the style builder is really complicated application and it is hared to make it work properly in all browsers. As for now FireFox gives best results I will reocmmned to that browser for creating custom skins with Visual Style Builder.

Hello,

Improvements for the VisualStyleBuilder are in our to do list, but I could not give an exact list what will be improved. The creation of a DLL idea is good and will be considered and implemented if it is possible.

I have run numerous extensive tests using the Telerik Style Builder and it simply does not work consistently in ANY modern browser.  I discovered the issue after spending hours customizing a style which I downloaded the final product of only to find that a lot of the customizations did not stick.  Try this simple test using any current browser and you will see:

1. Create a style called "test" based on the Metro skin and select only the button element
2. Change the background colour of each button using the fine-tune menu
3. Save your changes
4. Download the file
5. Close the project
6. Upload and reopen the project using the file previously downloaded
7. Verify the changes

The result is that the tool does not properly save all the customizations.  Sometimes half or more of your changes will save but either way, the tool is useless to me as long as it is not consistent.  I'd rather edit the CSS by hand.  This can be confirmed by inspecting the CSS downloaded so it's not just a display problem with the tool either.  Please either fix your tool or take it down so people do not have to go through what I just went through.

Hello,

This is a known issue and it is logged in our feedback portal to be fixed: FIX: Modifying RadButton's sprites in the Colorize tab has no effect.

The workaround is to extract the archive generated by the Visual Style Builder, move the sprites from the Common folder to the Button folder, archive the files again and import them in the Visual Style Builder. This allows you to edit them in the tool and after that you can download the skin and move the sprites back to the Common folder.

What other issues did you find using the StyleBuilder? Could you send us a list with problems that you found?

Also note, that even it could not substitute a real developer it helps a lot as it generates for you all necessary styles, folders and resources without the necessity to do that manually.
