Just a suggestion:  It might make sense for Telerik to offer a structured referral program.  Perhaps something such that the referror gets 1 quarter added to a subscription and the referred gets 10% off or something like that.  Or instead of an extra quarter, maybe convert this into something like Telerik Points equivalent to 10% of the buyer's purchase.  Whatever would make sense to Telerik.

As for implementation, in the Client.net portion of the site, for paying customers, allow the ability to generate coupon codes (perhaps have it limited such that a customer can only have 2 or 3 coupon codes active at any given time to prevent abuse) and other than that, you wouldn't have to modify much of anything else other than the rewarding mechanism for the referror.

Just an idea to toss out there.  :)

Shane,

Here is a link where Telerik offers information about the Telerik points program: http://www.telerik.com/client.net/telerik-points.aspx .
I noticed that your get 15% of the referred friends or colleagues purchase in points added to your account when you refer someone. Other than this I haven't been able to find any other information on how it is structured.

I really like your coupon idea , as long as it didn't get abused.

Johnathon,

Thanks for the link - I forgot about that.  Unfortunately that doesn't provide any incentive to the person who is being referred.

As for the coupon idea being abused, honestly, I don't know if that would be a bad thing for Telerik or not.  Sure they would begin to lose 10% (or whatever) of the money from all of the new sales, but as long as the idea ended up in total revenue going up signficantly, then even if it was being abused (i.e. everybody who ordered new products got 10% off) it might still be good for Telerik.

Hello:

We are surprised to see that nobody has turned up to rave with anticipation for the referral program:)

Indeed, the link that Jonathan has shared is all the information there is with regards to our customer referral program. Even though we have a pretty good idea how the incentive structure is going to play out, we would like to lay out a better foundation in terms of its technology realization. Ideally, we’d love to see referrals being done with just the click of a button from the Client.NET accounts, entering simply the email address and from there onwards everything should be automated so there’s minimum effort both for the referrer and the invitee. Needless to say, the entire process should be straightforward and time-efficient in order for it to gain popularity and become a success.

You could very well expect to see us bring the referral initiative into the spotlight as we continue to build a stronger telerik community. Given your explicit interest, as soon as we are close to launching the program, we will run it by you to solicit your opinions if you don’t mind.

Thanks for bringing the topic up and your contributions. We are confident you will be pleased once everything is ironed out.

Cordially,
Isaac

What's the current status of this?  I have a customer who is likely to purchase the RadControls for ASP.NET and would like to get credit for the referral.

Thanks

Hi Matt,

Thank you for the continued interest in the Telerik Referral program.

We are still working on the technical implementation of the Referral program but we already have some milestones covered. In fact customers can already redeem the accumulated Telerik points for customer referrals and other community initiatives automatically upon making a purchase from their Client.NET account. There are still some areas that are currently in development but hopefully everything will be ready soon.

With regards to the referral that you mentioned, please send us an e-mail to sales@telerik.com stating the name and e-mail address of the customer you referred to us and we would be happy to award you with 15% of the purchase in terms of Telerik points.

Thank you for recommending our products. We appreciate your support!

Best wishes,
Fani
