The Internet Explorer 9 beta 1 has caused a lot of misalignment, gaps, and weirdness in my Telerik-based ASP.NET 4 Web application. This is expected as IE moves more towards standards and away from quirks.

For me, the issue is whether I try to compensate for IE 9's rendering standards or whether I wait until Telerik's controls are updated.

Telerik's controls already detect the browser and adjust their output accordingly so that's the preferable approach. Do we have a timeline on when we'll start seeing builds that are IE 9 aware?

I'd like to hear Telerik's advice on how to proceed.

Thanks!

Ken

Hello Ken,

We are closely watching the evolving of the IE 9 browser since the first IE 9 platform preview and our QA team will surely play with the IE 9 Beta to designate issues and report them to our devs. We will do everything possible to address all known problems for the official launch of IE 9 and announce full support for the new browser version shortly after its goes live (I think that the ETA is the end of this year or the beginning of the next one).

Stay tuned for more details in the future releases of our AJAX controls.

Best regards,

Sebastian

Hey Telerik,

Do you want us to report IE9 "bugs" here in the forum or as support tickets? Or just leave it be due to the fact that IE9 is beta? Fyi, this one doesn’t work: http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/splitter/examples/externalcontentloading/defaultcs.aspx

Hi Anders.,

If the issues are visible on the AJAX online demos, there is no need to report them - they will be investigated in order to be addressed for the official IE 9 version. You can report more specific IE 9 issues either in the forums or via regular support tickets to be researched as well.

Yes... I have install IE9 to test the products of my webpages, it's not a Telerik error really... its the IE9 strategy of re-developing the core of IE and how they implement the DOM and other complicated stuffs :P

I know telerik will resolve IE9 issues cause are the best :)

In the meantime, is there a meta tag that will tell IE9 to render Telerik's controls as IE8 would? Something to use in the master page of the site would be a great help.

Hello JC,

We remain dedicated on what we have said previously in this very forum thread, namely:

If the issues are visible on the AJAX online demos, there is no need to report them - they will be investigated in order to be addressed for the official IE 9 version. You can report more specific IE 9 issues either in the forums (this thread inclusive) or via regular support tickets to be researched as well.

Here an update of our IE 9 support strategy, guys.

We will be testing extensively and do some improvements for our ASP.NET AJAX controls in order to make them fully compatible with the recently announced IE9 Release Candidate. The completion of this process is aimed at the Q1 2011 release of the suite, expected in the middle of the next month. Most of the tasks will be finished for the Q1 2011 BETA release, due in a couple of weeks.

I suggest you dabble with the Q1 2011 BETA of our AJAX controls and leave us your feedback concerning the IE9 RC compatibility.

Greetings,
Sebastian

Hi,
Now IE9 RTW and the Telerik 2011 Q1 release is out, I would be interested to know the following

Will their be a central list published of IE9 specific issues which arise (Which effect the current release)
Can you provide a list of fixed IE9 compatibility issues pre Q1 release, to help determine if I need to update all my existing web sites.

Hello Brian,

With the Q1 2011 landmark AJAX release we announced officially support for IE 9 RTM (see this blog post). We have not compiled a list with IE 9 specific issues we addressed before the release. If you encounter any discrepancies with the Q1 2011 AJAX release under IE 9, feel free to report them in this thread and we will do our best to eliminate them asap.

I am curious as to whether IE 9 will be supported in the 2010 Release software. We purchased in Q3 and were told we would have support for IE9 and Firefox 4 and as of now it seems Firefox 4 is having at least performance related problems and IE9 is having issues more problematic than that.

We are not annual subscribers and part of the justification for purchasing our licenses in this way was because of cross-browser compatibility. We are hoping our purchase isn't effectively obsolete before we release to market. Please advise.

Thanks,
Nelson

Hello Nelson,

IE 9, FireFox 4 and Google Chrome10 are supported by our controls starting Q1 2011. If you would like to ensure that our AJAX controls are compatible with the new major versions of these three browsers, you will need to migrate at least to version 2011.1.315. With older versions these browsers are only partially supported and we do implement new features/enhancements or bugfixes merely for new versions of our AJAX components.

I installed the Telerik Asp.Net latest version (2011 Q1 SP1), but I still have problems with using ajax with internet explorer 9 !!!
Some controls are not running the event and, therefore, the pages do not work!
To run the programs must be run in compatibility mode IE9 !!

How come I still have these problems with this version ?

Thank you in advance.

Marco Piumi.

Marco,

I am only now getting approval to purchase a subscription for this product so that we can remain relevent with the latest browsers. Are you experiencing minor bugs or are there a multitude of issues? The purchase of this subscription is directly related to IE9 and Firefox 4 compatibility and if we aren't buying that, we simply won't buy until it is completely available.

I was told all of these issues were resolved and if anything there would be minor bugs if that, but I read your post to mean it could potentially be a bit more than that.

Thanks,
Nelson

Nelson,

probably there are still some difficulties with this browser.

Even with ie8 there were some initial difficulties, and then everything went well !!
Confidently expect that future releases will finally fix everything !!
