This is my utmost request for the book that I keep running into in every case. I had to to turn down a request because they wanted a form that contained a grid of information that would simply not fit on one page (width wise). So, I thought I share a suggestion in case it would help with the design.

What if you give us an option that would affect all the pages in the book, to either go with double page or single page. The double page would act as the current but the in single page mode, the two pages would be counted "one" page but it holds the left and right side. This is not my favorite decision, because the page numbers would be messed up, but at least it might be an option.

I really hope the team is active on this issue and we would get to see it for Q1

Thanks a lot, as usual!
..Ben

Ah, only images? Not controls (like grid) or RichText?

Hello ..Ben,

At least not out of the box. Otherwise we should make the rest of the controls to "understand" that they are in a Book component. We are working on a demo with the Reporting Viewer for Silverlight where we will show how to lay-out the reporting pages accross the book pages.

Valio, My understanding of the Reporting Viewer for SL, is that, it generates XAML code, which could mean, text, chart, path and etc. So, if you can go across two pages with that XAML, can't we do the same in Blend or Code behind?

BTW, I'm very happy that you're working on that demo. As I told Kiril, that will open up new direction.

I hope whatever solution you come up with, for the long run, it will not limit us. I rather wait for the team to find a solid and flexible solution than a workaround that would lead to side effects!

Hello Valentin,

As I said in a previous thread, iIt would be nice to have controls like trieview/grid automatically spawning through pages.
If not in next release, is it something we may count on for a reasonnable delay ?

Best regards

Hello Christian Surieux,

I don't want to commit anything right now. I think that if you use the WCF Ria Services you will be able to set the proper data source for the ItemsControls so that they can show the proper content for the respective pages.

Hello Valentin,

I have just noticed, extending your firstlook book sample that if I add items to the treeview I get scrollers, I would prefer it extending on next page.
But as I understand this would be a hard feature to implement in book code so we must take care when using dynamic data to manage this difficulty by ourselves ?

I'd like to clarify that the feature request I started and the one that CS has brought up, are two entirely and distinctive features.

My request is that left page and right page are considered as "One" surface for a large image or grid that the width covers all the way from left to right.

The request that CS is making (was also on the list when I initially submitted to team), is for the content to "flow" from one page to another, so there is continuity there like a PDF file from one page to another.

Yesterday, when report team showed (the great sample) of running report on the book, in my question (b), I asked what would happen if the Bike "Road-650" on page 9 had more items to show on that screen. I still have not gotten answer yet, but that relates to the same scenario.

I just want to make sure the team and CS are cleared that we are talking about to separate features.
Thanks
..Ben

Hi Ben,

Currently I am shooting in the dark, but I believe the feature you suggest can be achieved. For Christian's feature I am not so sure, since all our controls have to be aware of being in the book control. However, this is not final, so we will see what the future will show. Thank you for the great suggestions.
