Hi Mahalakshmi Ravi,

Thank you for contacting us.

ShapeFile / SQL 2008 Geospatial data support is in our extended TODO list but it is unlikely that we will be able to include it for the first official release of RadMap for Q1 2010 around March (currently the control is in CTP stage). Nevertheless, we will forward your feedback to our developers so they can consider it when planning the features for the Q2 2010 release.

At the moment the control supports KML data import only.

HI,

Ran into the same problem. Found several tools that will convert from shp to kml. Try the search engines for 'shp to kml' or 'shp 2 kml'. Some of the tools work online, others are small desktop apps.

Hello Henk,

Thank for contacting us.

While we do not have immediate plans for the development of Oracle spatial support in RadMap, we have logged your feature request in our public issue tracking system so we can monitor the interest in such feature (and eventually raise its priority if this is a commonly requested addon).

All the best,
Freddie

I dont know other countries but in the Netherlands most (local) government agencies  used Oracle Spatial for their GIS solutions!

So Oracle users of Telerik components: Vote for Oracle Spatial support for the Silverlight Map component!!! ;-)

Thanks,

Henk

We tried to use KML File, which was converted from Shape File to KML. But it didn't worked. So please will you tell me that what KML format Map is aspecting?

Can you give sample where we can use Customize Map Provider to use a Shape File, if we have Shape File Reader Utility already available?

Thanks

Hi Mahalakshmi,

The map providers have no concerns to the shapes are shown in the information layer. The map providers are intended to provide map tiles to show.
Please, send us an example of the KML file produced by your utility so we could check what a problem is.

Hello Chandra,

ESRI shape file support is in our plans for the 2010 Q3 release of our controls. You can check when the feature will be available using our PITS system:
http://www.telerik.com/support/pits.aspx#/public/silverlight/54

The SQL Geospatial Data Support feature is also in our TODO list but we will not be able to add it for the next release. One of the major criteria for prioritizing feature development is the number of customers' votes in our PITS and you can cast your vote for this feature here:
http://www.telerik.com/support/pits.aspx#/public/silverlight/55

Kind regards,
