The UI for selecting persona's when entering user stories is kind of clunky.  See what I mean in the attached video:

Thanks

Hello Tim,

Thanks a lot for the feedback.
I believe that there is a lot of value having all the item types(Bug,Feedback,Story or Persona) in the Quick Linker. E.g.
- While you writing a story, a new idea could came up, that's why you can add a new feedback in the story's description. After that you can open the newly created feedback item and you'll know from where it came.
- If you think that a bug could be fixed from story's implementation you could add it in the description.

I think that the best we can do here is to reorder Quick Linker items depending on the context. E.g.
If you're in the Story's description items to be in the following order:
1) Persona
2) Story
3) Feedback item
4) Bug
What do you think about that?

As for the Quick Linker's keyboard navigation:
if you want to add a persona:
1) Ctrl+Space -> The Quick Linker is opened
2) Press "down arrow" twice -> Selection is over the persona
3) Press Enter -> Quick Linker is expanded ->Focus goes into the persona's name field
4) Type the persona's name
4.1) If you click Enter Persona will be added.
4.2) If you click Tab you'll go to the Role's field -> You can add a Role to the persona and press Enter-> Persona will be added.

In general:
With Tab you're changing the current focus.
With Enter you're confirming your choice.

That's why when you open the Quick Linker and press Tab -> Focus goes to the Close Button. If you click enter->Quick Linker will be closed

As for the mouse clicking. Once you open the Quick Linker. One click will select the item. Double click will expand the Quick Linker.

Please describe in more details how the navigation should behave, in case you think that we should have different implementation of keyboard navigation.

Kind regards,

Thanks Petio.

Re-ordering to put persona on top would be helpful.

You mention that tab moves focus and I agree it should.  Unfortunately you don't share that information with the user consistenly.  Try this:

ctrl-space to open the quick linker
arrow down to persona
now press TAB .... where is the focus?

The focus is on the X icon at top which will close the window as I demonstrated in my video - however, there is no focus highlight so that is not clear.  In my video I press enter at that point and the window closes unexpectedly.

Another example - try this:

ctrl-space to open the quick linker
arrow down to persona
now press enter to open the dialog
press first letter to select personal (in my case "u")
now press tab - moves to role
now press tab ... where is the focus?

Is is in the X or the right arrow ?  No indicator.

My general feedback is that end users will pretty much get used to any UI but showing where the focus is - with some sort of visual cue - is critical to their learning process. You do this for text boxes - why not buttons?  That would help.

Thanks

Hello Tim,

Thanks again for the valuable feedback. We agree that the current navigation in the Quick Linker is not enough user friendly and needs to be improved.
We logged in our local TeamPulse your suggestions for re-ordering the Quick Linker's items for stories and providing better visual clue for the current focus position.
We will do our best to include those improvements in some of our upcoming releases.

Feel free to share with us any other thoughts and suggestions related to TeamPulse.

I agree on those improvements for the Quick linker, and also It would be great to keep the text when we change to one type to another, is a little change that would be helpfull when you get the type wrong and start typing.

For example:
1) Open the quick linker
2) Select Story
3) Start typing, Why  can't I find it?
4) Ouch! It wasn't a Story but a Persona what I was looking for.
5) Change to Persona
6) Type again because the text is gone.

I put votes for you on the both previously mentioned feedback items in our internal TeamPulse. Also I have added another new feedback item for your specific request: Quick Linker: Save the search/create criteria when switching between types.

Thank you for sharing this valuable feedback with us. It is highly appreciated and if you have any other suggestions for improvement, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
