Hi

Is Telerik requiring elevated privilege to run because I have to provide my admin account to run it? The main issue is this, I have standard account (not administrator account) to run our test, but to open the application to create a test it use my admin account which it does not have access to 90% of our applications. Is there any way to provide the right account to create and run the test?

Hello Mohyeddin,

UWP apps do not require elevated permissions to run. Are you referring to installation of the product?

Yes, the installer will show you the UAP prompt because it is installing UI for UWP into Program Files x86 and it also installs the UI for UWP Visual Studio Extension.

NOTE: I notice that you do not currently have a license for UI for UWP. You'll need to get a trial license before proceeding.

Here are the steps to get a license:
  1. 1 -Go to Product page.

  2. 2 - Click on the Try now link and then click the Download button.

Once you have a license assigned to your account, you'll be able to download the manual installation package and use the DLLs directly or you can just use the Nuget package.

1 - Go here to the UI for Universal Windows Platform product page
2 - Download:

Telerik_UI_for_UniversalWindowsPlatform_2016_2_0711_1_Trial.zip

or
UI.for.UniversalWindowsPlatform.Trial.2016.2.711.1.nupkg

Hi Lance

Thank you for your quick replay, I submit my issue in the wrong section. I install Telerick Test Studio 2016.2. and It will be OK to use the admin permission to install the application, but not run it, because it will use the same account to create the test which in most case does not have access to our applications. For example we have admin account, standard account and lower environment account in different domains that have their own permissions.

Hello Mohyeddin,

I'm not 100% sure what problems you have with access of applications with different accounts, but Test Studio requires Administrator account privileges to install and run, then record and perform some actions, like logging, scheduling configuration, IO operations, etc.. As an UI Automation tool upon execution it requires active user session - in order to be able to interact with windows desktop and browsers.

Test Studio runs in the context of the active user logged into windows by default and you cannot switch it to run with different users by some configuration.

So I'm not sure if it will work for your case, because I don't have all the details for your setup and environment. You can try it out and tell us if something is not working and we can provide you further guideline if needed.
