Hi,

We set up our test environment and we have 4 machines with teststudio licenses to capture the test scripts. Our idea is to have a new dedicated machine for the schedule server and execution server to run our tests.

Question: For this new machine (schedule server and execution server) we have to buy another license for teststudio? we only need to have the server schedule and execution server in this machine.

Best Regards
Mário

Hello Mario,

Yes, you are right, if you would like to use the machine as scheduling and execution you will have to buy an additional license.

HI Ivaylo,

So if i have this arquitecture with 5 machines, 4 of them we can capture and edit scripts for test authomation, and 1 machine to execute the authomation tests.
How many licences I will have to buy?
What licenses do I have to buy?
Can i use Test Studio Run-time in this arquitecture to execute this authomation tests?
The Test Studio Run-time is used for what?

I'm trying to understand how many and what licenses do we have to buy.

Best Regards

Hi Mario,

Let me add that we have this page that documents the difference between full Test Studio and our Run-Time editiion.
http://www.telerik.com/automated-testing-tools/support/documentation/user-guide/overview/test-studio-vs-run-time.aspx

The full Test Studio is what you need for creating and maintaining test scripts. The Run-Time edition cannot be used for creating or editing test scripts but can be used for:

So given your scenario of
  • 4 machines for creating and maintaining test scripts
  • 1 machine dedicated to executing scripts

That means 4 full Test Studio licenses plus one Run-Time edition license. Does this help?
