Rotator - Slide Show With Power Points with images

Hi Telerik

it's my first time that I use the control Rotator but I found  that when I use the control rotator with xmlDataSource "http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/rotator/examples/slideshow/defaultcs.aspx" the exercise was succesfully but I changed the xml by other with different information the exercise not working, my powerpoint have many slides with different images.

Hello Gustavo,

The RadRotator demo you linked is configured to work with the exact XML structure that is shown when you click the presentation.xml tab in the demo. If you change the structure of the XML, you will have to update the ItemTemplate of the rotator with the names of the new XML nodes to ensure that the rotator will keep functioning.

If you are not sure how to do this, I will need a fully runnable sample that shows how you implemented the rotator with the changed data source so that I can help you apply it.

Ok thanks , My objective is the follow I  want to develop a Viewer the Power Points(ppt) with images saved as how .xml  using the rotator with xmldatasource, I need obtain the slides the el power point how images the shows how to gallery and simulate the viewer the power point  , I think that is posible or I need other control,thanks..., one tag <pkg:binaryData> the my xml...

Hi Gustavo,

The RadRotator control can be data bound to a XmlDataSource and the XmlDataSource can present the data from an .xml to a data bound control, however it is up to you to make use of this data and to present it in a meaningful way. The .xml file that is generated by PowerPoint is quite complex and it will be difficult to interpret the information it contains. Note that the Slide Show demo you linked resembles a MS PowerPoint and it does not use an actual .xml generated from PowerPoint.

One way to make a similar example as the one shown in the demo is to create an .xml with simple structure that contains the needed texts and can be easily used with the XmlDataSource.

Another approach that might allow you achieve the desired result is to find a way to embed the PowerPoint slides on the page and then place them in the ItemTemplate of the rotator like various content is placed in the item template in the following demo: http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/rotator/examples/richcontent/defaultcs.aspx
