Hello

We've observed that with the amount of text typed in rich text box, it becomes very slow. If it has good amount of content then typing a small text takes even a minute or two. Same thing happens when you try to delete characters. This eventually makes the application screen load very-very slow where this control is used.

We're using Telerik RichTextBox in our application. Version - 2012.1.0326.40. Are you aware if performance is already known issue with Rich Text Box control? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks
Manoj

Hello Manoj,

The performance of RadRichTextBox depends of the amount of content edited to some extent. However we are not able to determine the exact problem in this case with the information provided. Can you please open support ticket and send us more details. It will also help a lot if you can send us the documents that make RadRichTextBox run slow. Thanks!

Hi Mike,

I too am experiencing major performance issues with larger documents.
If you need an example to test then take a look at my ticket submission numbered 610082.

You can also find a post referring to the same issues in the Silverlight section here.

Thanks,

Rob

Hello Robert,
We are working on performance optimizations as we speak, and we have taken your scenario into consideration while testing them. Some of the optimizations were pushed in the LIB from this week, and some will be included in next week's one; of course all of them will be part of the next official release - 2012 Q3, expected in a few weeks.

All the best,
Boby

I have updated my project to the Q3 2012 release and it seems to have improved the performance massively.

Thank you for rectifying this. I will get back to this thread when I get chance to do some more testing.

Thanks again,

Rob

I'm using libraries Q1 2913 and my document is having massive performance issues when using lots of semantic fields (custom fields).

Has the latest Q1 2014 libraries had any significant changes that will improve performance when using large amounts of custom annotations? I'm talking about hundreds of annotations per document.

Sorry that was meant to say Q1 2013 and not Q1 2913.

Hi Robert,

Thank you for writing.

Custom annotations are kept in special caches and, as a result, their excessive use can tamper the performance of your application. We will analyze in details your scenario and do our best to provide suggestions that will improve the performance. Please refer to the support ticket you have opened.

Do not hesitate to write back in the support ticket if you have other questions on this matter.

Regards,
Vasil
