Adiel, as far as I know, RIA Services currently only support LINQ2SQL and EF. At some point I had heard, once RIA services goes RTW, then they will begin to open it up.
At this point, Ria Services is a moving target and the API is changing, soon they will change from JSON to ADO.Net Data Services for their data pluming, that by itself will break a bunch of things.
And don't forget, since they rely on Astoria, then Astoria needs to support OA too!

Hello guys,
RIA Services uses providers to access Entity Framework or Linq2SQL. Very soon we will provide similar provider for Open Access in order to enable Astoria and RIA Services to use OA for backend.
All the best,

Hi,
Is RIA Services provider implemented for OpenAccess? Or it's still under development?
Thanks,
Oleg

Hi Oleg,
Unfortunately it is still under development, and I not able to provide you with an exact time-frame when it will be released - a lot of changes are made to RIA services currently, and we have to account for all of them.

And expect more major change by PDC release, since the communication pluming is being changed. In fact, expect even more changes after PDC and before V1. RIA Service is certainly a moving target and is hard to write providers for as it's changing.

Hello ..Ben,
Exactly what we are hearing as well. RIA Services will jump on the Ado.Net Data Services wagon, which will be a major change (in ADS v.1.5, you can see the first push to make it compliant with RIA services, by providing the Service provider pattern exactly like with RIA). That is why we decided that just releasing a provider is not enough, as if you start building upon it, it won’t be a sustainable development at a later point in time.

Hi Dimitar;
That's why I made a comment to support your statement about RIA and ADS. You will know a lot more by PDC and it's safer to wait.

Microsofts SQL Azure database offering has great 3rd party support. You can check it out to use OpenAccess with the new RIA services

Any news on RIA Services support for ORM?
0
Hi Neil,
The RIA provider for Telerik OpenAccess ORM is still under development. Unfortunately I cannot give you an exact time frame when it will be available. Currently you can use RIA with OpenAccess only for read operations. A much better functionality will be introduced with Q1 2010. Please also note that the RIA data services will be supported by the Data Service Wizard as well.
Sincerely yours,
Petar

As we did not see an update to RIA Services support in the Q1, are there plans to include it for Q2?

Hello Lars Solberg,
We are planning full support of RIA data services to be released with one of our service packs prior to Q2. We believe that we will be able to have a beta before the official launch of visual studio 2010.
Kind regards,
Petar

Do you want to have your say when we set our development plans? Do you want to know when a feature you care about is added or when a bug fixed? Explore the Telerik Public Issue Tracking system and vote to affect the priority of the items.

Just curious if this ever was finished. With Sitefinity 4 it would be nice to be able to build Silverlight widgets that expose data using a clean RIA interface.

Hello Joseph,
Petar
the Telerik team
We have provided both a provider for RIA services and a wizard that helps you add a new RIA service based on an already excising domain model. The functionality is available since Q2 2010.
I believe that a good starting point will be our documentation that provides a quick start for Silverlight 4 and RIA data services.
