OS: W7 professional 64 bit

Development environment: VS2012, VS2013

Telerik version: Data Access Q2 2015

issue:

I moved back to VS2012 for unrelated reasons, and noticed that I couldn't open up my telerik files. When I do, instead of getting the screen with model schema explorers, stored procedures, and tables that have been added, I instead get the XML file of everything. I then noticed that the 'TELERIK' in the menu bar wasn't there.

I tried repairing my install and nothing changed, so I uninstalled and reinstalled Telerik. Now, however, no Telerik methods (savechanges, add, etc) are recognized, and I still can't open the UI for adding tables/stored procedures.

Attached picture shows first the method that isn't recognized, what the rlinq file looks like in the solution explorer, and also what happens whenever I open a ORM file.

Sorry about the bad crop job

What can be done to fix this?

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill,

The outcome you experienced after the installation of Data Access Q2 2015 through the control panel is expected. This is the first version of Data Access, in which the Visual Studio integration is deprecated (the .rlinq files are supported).  Currently, Data Access is distributed only through five NuGet packages. More details on the deprecation are available in this blog post. In order to maintain your existing projects that consume Data Access (especially such with .rlinq files), you can apply any of the following suggestions:

Option 1: Migrate the .rlinq file to a fluent model and integrate the NuGet packages. The details and the workflow about the migration process are available here.

Option 2: Freeze the version of Data Access on Q1 2015. Since Data Access Q1 2015 is the last version that distributes the Visual Studio integration, with this option you won't need to migrate the model.

In both cases, you will need to obtain Data Access Q1 2015. You can do so using the FTP credentials provided here.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need further information.

Hi Doroteya,

Thank you for getting back to me. I tried accessing the FTP site but it appears I've missed it by about 6 days. Would it be possible to get access to it again?

I'll be sure to research and try out one or both of your suggested methods after I get the Q1 installer.

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Thank you for the feedback.

Let me confirm that the provided FTP credentials currently offer access to the Q1 2015 version of Data Access. They are active and will remain active as long as they are needed.

Let me know how the things on your side are.

Hi Doroteya,

I was unable to grab the file from work, for whatever reason, but I got it off of my home computer and after I installed it everything works fine. Thanks again for all the help and information.
