I downloaded and installed the trial version yesterday from your website. When I click 'Launch page in Internet Explorer for recording' the browser is started but is set to "about:blank", and is empty..

After a delay, I get a message, "Failed to launch the browser.  Error: System.TimeoutException: Wait for condition has timed out..."

I am running 64 bit Windows 7, and have both 32 and 64 bit versions of IE 8 installed (and not sure which version is being loaded by Test Studio).

I went through and followed the instructions to set various flags, etc.  in Internet Options.   UAC is off.

Thanks,

Daniel

By looking at the IE process in Task manager, I verified, that it's running the 32 bit version of IE8.

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for the post and I'm sorry you ran into this problem. Just to confirm, did you install and are running WebUI with a user account that is part of the admin group for the machine?

If you can also please check that the following Add-Ons exist in IE: WebUI Test Studio Recorder and WebAii Test Execution Extension.

If they do exist, please try disabling all other IE Add-Ons, restart IE, then tryr launching the Recording Window from WebUI again.

Best wishes,
Nelson Sin

Hmm..

I have 4 addons that IE says are related, 3 of which have the same version #.  It says, "Control name is not available".

Web Test Recorder 10.0, version 4.0.3.1106.0
WebUI TestStudio Recorder, same version
WebAii Test Execution Extension, same version.

I also have something called Discuss, that wants to be enabled at the same time.

The only other enabled addons are Silverlight and Flash.

I tried enabling all 3 addons with the same version # (4.0.3.1106.0), and only enabling the two you mentioned (WebUI and WebAii).

In all cases the browser starts up when you press record, but a popup starts up soon afterwards saying that the browser has stopped working.   In fact, that's been happening a fair amount when doing normal activities since installing WebUI Test Studio yesterday.   it seems to go away when I disable all of these related addons.

Yes, I installed and am running this in an account in the admin group for my machine.

Hi again Daniel,

Thanks for trying that and the extra information. Was any previous version of WebUI installed on this machine? But just to confirm, check your Add/Remove Programs for the following entries:

- Automation Design Canvas 2.0
- WebAii 2.0 and/or WebAii Free Framework
- any or all WebUI Test Studio versions still installed

Telerik WebUI Test Studio 2010.1 should be the only entry in Add/Remove Programs. If any of the above entries still exist, please uninstall them along with the Telerik WebUI Test Studio 2010.1 entry, then reinstall the latest Dev Edition here.

If the above does not work or deos not apply, please let us know.

Sincerely,
Nelson

There was a previous version of WebAii there, that I uninstalled, however, it didn't uninstall Web Test Recorder 10.0 from the addons list.

Uninstalling WebUI Test Studio Developer Edition doesn't do that either.

I reinstalled, it and the problems are still happening for me.

What do you want me to try next?

Hi Daniel Corbett,

I am sorry nothing has worked to fix this problem for you so far. Let's setup a GoToMeeting where Nelson or I can have a look at this problem on your machine and figure out what's going wrong. Let me know what timezone you are in and your availability and we'll setup the meeting. We are in Austin, TX which is Central Daylight TIme (GMT -6).

All the best,
Cody

I have logmein installed on my desktop.

I am on Eastern Time Zone.

Anytime tomorrow after 8am EST most likely will work, except 1-2pm.

Thanks,

Hi,

Before purchasing WebUI Test Studio Dev Ed, I tried it on a PC at home which works fine.
However, after purchase, I installed it on my PC running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise (64 bit) and I have the error you described.

I tried the various steps below, but no luck...
Did you find any solutions ??

Thanks,

Hi Nicolas,

Please try the Win Server recommended IE security settings update as described here and let us know whether that helps.

Kind regards,
