Hi,

Im having major issues inserting web parts into content areas in a page using the RAD editor. I can insert a web part, but then any attempt to edit the web part properties or any other action inserts another web part benieth it and so on untill i leave the page. I can not delete them either as this causes a another one to be added !!!

Once I activate the web level feature

Use RadEditor to edit HTML fields

Replaces the default Rich Html editor with RadEditor (page content, wiki, etc.).

All html fields use the RAD editor and this is where I get the issue of inserting web parts into content areas.

This issue does not happen when the feature is not activated and i use the OOTB editor.

Also this is on a Vanila no customisations env.

RadEditorSharePoint DLL version in use from GAC is    6.1.7.0...

Hello Inderjit,

The Insert Web Part feature is a relatively new functionality and there are problems when inserting WebParts. The problem is due to that the content is modified by the RadEditor's content filters which make the content XHTML. If the filters are disabled the WebPart HTML will become even worse because the Rich Text Editing engines of the different browsers will corrupt it even more.

The problem is logged with high priority in our ToDo list and we will do our best to fix it.
Here you can check the status of the PITS issue: http://www.telerik.com/support/pits.aspx#/public/aspnet-ajax/8342.
Due to the complexity of this functionality I could not provide a firm estimate when it will be solved.

Hi,

We are using Telerik Rad Editor in a sharepoint page.
We have a requirment to insert web part inside Rad editor. The web part can be custom or OOB web part.
I have two questions :
1) Is it possible to do or not?
2) How efficient is it performance wise (Page load time)
3) Are the issues incountered previously fixed now? If yes, then in which version?

It will be a geat help.

Hello Rahul,

The required functionality is still not supported by the latest version of RadEditor for SharePoint 2010/2013 and additional investigation is needed to provide it for the Q2 2013 release. We have a huge progress and right now we are able to insert and save Web Parts. The problem arises when the web part is opened for editing in RadEditor.

All the best,
Rumen

Hello,

Did you manage to fix the problem that arises while editing a page and web parts embedded within the RadEditor field? In the version we've been using (6.8.1.0 / 2013.3.1114.35) saving a publishing page causes web parts to be duplicated. In fact the duplicated web part is a kind of "phantom" (or stub / doppleganger) of inserted web part. It is not the real web part, but it is html representation / snapshot, generated at the moment of saving the page. Additionally it is not possible to remove the web part easily. It is possible only to do it from ribbon. Settings AllowScripts="true" in ConfigFile.xml helps a bit and enables contextual web part menu. Anyway, the "phantom" web parts cannot be removed in this way (as they are not real web parts) and it is possible to remove them on some occasions from HTML view or by using "delete row / cell" options.
Because of this issue we may end up with disabling radeditor completely. Is there any chance that you fix it?

Regards,
Greg

Hi,

Unfortunately the problem with inserting or editing webparts in RadEditor still is not resolved and I do not think it will be in the next release. In order for it to be resolve there must be implemented a missing functionality in the editor allowing it to has some sort of immutable elements in the content. Content which is not modified by content filters commands or what ever editor functionality. This is scheduled for the current 2014 Q2, how ever I can not confirm that it will be successfully implemented.
