I have 2 questions/problems associated with converting a WebUI test to a web test for use in a load test.  For reference, I'm currently evaluating a trial version of WebUI Developer, VS 2010 Ultimate, have not yet set up TFS 2010 yet but have my tests stored in our current TFS 2005.

Question 1 - It seems that if I have a browser already open when I click on the "Convert test to VS Web Test" button, another browser window will open, act like it is going to run through the steps, but never actually does anything, just hangs there.  Conversely, if I click on the button with no previous browser open, it works normally.  Is this normal?

Question 2 - When I finally get the test to do the conversion steps, and after it finishes the process of finding all the dependent calls, I receive errors indicating that access to the dll file in the obj folder is denied because another process is using it.  The only way I've found to get past this is to completely close VS, delete the bin and obj folders, reopen VS and rebuild the solution.  What is happening here?

Hello Dennis Minard,

After carefully considering this feature we have decided to remove it from the product. It is officially no longer supported. I am sorry to have to tell you that.

Best wishes,

Hi Cody,
So you are saying that there will be no way to use tests created with WebUI in load tests?  I've been evaluating your product for our use.  Because our applications are full of Telerik and Silverlight controls, thus far WebUI is the only application that I've found that can adequately let me set up tests that re-run actually (i.e. I can record tests with Visual Studio's tools fine, but dependent calls always makes them fail when I re-run the tests).  To pull the ability to create web tests from the WebUI tests would force me to change my recomendation of purchasing your product.  Are there any alterternatives I'm not thinking of?

Hello Dennis,

We are currently evaluating the convert to web test feature of WebUI Test Studio because of some issues that make its usage unreliable after conversion.  Additionally, there are difficulties with functional test being used as load tests because of the limitations imposed by mouse and keyboard actions within the test.

If you would like to discuss further please feel free to email me at chris@telerik.com

Hi Chris,

Is there any workaround or solution on this matter?
We are interested to use functional test a load tests.

Hi STEVEN,

We do not have an update to this at this time - however I can say that all feedback on such functionality has been compiled and is being reviewed by the testing tools product team.

Hope this helps!

All the best,
