Planned GANTT Chart Functionality

I saw in this post that the planned GANTT Chart functionality was mentioned. I wanted to find out more information about the projected availability of the Gantt Chart functionality in RadScheduler.

Hello Paige Cook,

Unfortunately the GANTT chart-like view has been postponed. Initially it was planned for the Q3 release, but it will have to be delayed for at least one more major release.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for my delay in responding. We are getting ready to start a scheduling related project around the first week of November and I was hoping to be able to use RadScheduler, since we are going to be using a lot of other Telerik controls (RadWindow, RadMenu, RadCalendar, RadGrid, etc.). But the lack of Gantt chart functionality will prevent me from using RadScheduler as this time as that is a hard requirement for us. Please let me know if any opportunities to see early versions of the Gantt chart functionality present themselves, as I would be extremely interested.

Thanks for your continuous interest in our RadScheduler control.

Unfortunately, as already stated, the GANTT chart-like view has been postponed and most probably will be implemented in the second quarter of 2008.

I just wanted to check in the status of the Gantt Chart capability of RadScheduler and see which release this functionality is currently being targeted for. The last reply from Paul, indicated that it would be Q2 2008.

Thank you for your interest. We are currently working on the mentioned GANTT-chart like view and we intend to release it in the Q1 2008 version. We are also planning a Futures release that will give a limited functionality demo of this and other upcoming features.

Hi Peter,

Yes, we have implemented this functionality - the Timeline view. You can check out the demo here:

But I have to clarify that this view provides GANTT-like functionality, it is not a complete GANTT chart. Feel free to download the demo and explore this functionality to see if it fits your needs.

Yes it is indeed gantt like.
Are there short term plans to change this into real gantt chart features. e.g. continuous time scales?
Did you test what happens wrt performance when you have lots of time slots and e.g. a slot duration of 1 minute?

Hi Peter,

We do not have short-term plans to implement complete GANTT-chart functionality in RadScheduler. We might reevaluate this, but for now the GANTT functionality is not on the radar.

Performance should be reasonable with a lot of time slots, up until few thousands. Much more than that and the HTML will get prohibitively large.
