After upgrading to the latest kendo (2.903), a js exception is being thrown when using a placeholder. Adding single quotes around the placeholder value seems to work as a workaround.

Hello Claudiu,
When widget's options are defined in HTML then strings, like placeholder value, needs to be put in single quotes. This requirement is documented here.
