The lowly PictureBox ... it just sits there ... maybe once in awhile stretching an image, or perhaps centering it but generally it leads a pretty boring life.

so howza' bout the Telerik crew bring some snazzz to this lowly control?

Some suggestions:

1. Allow for gradient background colors for those times we use it as a "frame" for an image with a transparent background

2. a wider variety of border styles

3. Allow to fade the image

4. possibly allow for a glassy overlay

5 Rather than placing it on a RadPanel that has the fancy new dropshadow :) let the picturebox contol have its own dropshadow option

Thank you for your thoughts, Steven. We are not sure we will jump into image editing, even as simple as the one you have described. Image editing is a vast world and once we are in, the features that will be requested will be more than we can handle :)

On a similar note, we plan to offer a "customizer" for the standard controls which come with VS2005. basically, we plan to extend our Visual Style Builder to be able to style standard controls. If all goes well, we will have this feature in the Q2 release. We will check/research whether we will be able to offer some editing capabilities for the PictureBox, but chances for this to happen are slim.

All the best,

I can see how this type of feature improvement could be looked at as adding image editing but that wasn't neccessarily to direction I was coming from.

What I was looking for really was just some simple enhancements to allow the developer to add a little sparkle to the display of static images that are a part of the UI .. for example if they have a top banner on the app that has a graphic used as the app logo this would be a simple way to help make it stand out.

But I do understand where you are coming from on this as well
