PasswordBox in Edit or Insert Template

How do I access a passwordbox control inside a template on the EditEnding event.
According to the documentation you cannot bind a passwordbox control, so I guess I have to get the password on the editending event; to be able to do that I need to access the control that's in the template somehow.
There is no documentation that shows how to do that.
