Greetings -

It's not clear if OpenAccess supports the .Net Compact Framework or not. If not, is there a timeframe for it?

Thanks...

Hello Rory,

Thank you for your interest.

Actually we are not aware of any limitations, but we have not tested it yet. It is on our plan to test and to support it, if it is feasible. That should happen this Spring after Q1 release.

Feel free to give it a try before and let us know your findings, if you don't want to wait until then.

Best wishes,

Hello Rory,

Please consider also that OpenAccess on Compact Framework makes most sense in a disconnected scenario using our ObjectContainer (please see also our documentation about ObjectContainer Architecture and API Reference).

If you need to use it with a local database like MS SQL Server CE, you would need to wait in any case until we support such. For more information see the bottom of our Roadmap addressing databases to be supported in the near future.

We'd appreciate, if you let us know more about your scenario.

All the best,
Peter Brunner

Hi Peter -

Thanks for the reply. I am looking for SQL CE support, so will wait for Q1 release.

Is there a beta I could try until it is released?

Hi Rory,

Thank you for your patience.

You might need to wait a bit longer, since we only start with implementing CE support after the Q1 release. So there is a good chance that it gets available in a Q1 Service Pack, so before Q2 release in summer.

Still this is basically independent from testing the Compact Framework, which has the same chance for a Q1 Service Pack.

Best wishes,

Hi Abhay,

Thank you for your interest.

Support for SQL CE is currently scheduled for summer/autumn this year, most-likely after Q2 release.

Hi Geo,

Thanks for checking.

There are no news concerning Compact Framework, which did not make it on our Roadmap yet.

SQL CE for the desktop is next on our database list, so it can be expected this year.

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a released version of OpenAccess that can be used in an application targeting Compact Framework.

Thanks,
Krisztian

Hi Krisztian,

Unfortunately this is not yet implemented for OpenAccess ORM. In case you need it for your scenario, I would suggest you to open a feedback portal feature request here. This way other people can vote and express their interest, so that we can properly prioritize such implementation.

Do not hesitate to provide us with any other feedback that you have about using OpenAccess ORM.
