Unfortunately you are almost right with you guess - the free versions of Visual Studio are not supported by OpenAccess ORM, meaning that:
- you will not have any Visual Designer available
- you will not be able to use any wizards or project templates
What you can use is only the Fluent Mapping API (also called the Code-Only approach), in case you find it suitable for your project. I hope that helps.

In fact, even the commercial release does not support those visual parts of the product, since they are parts of a Visual Studio add-in and the free versions of Visual Studio do not support add-ins, so there is technically no way to make that happen in the near future.

In general, if you are using the commercial editions of Visual Studio 2008/2010, you should have all the OpenAccess templates in place once OpenAccess ORM is installed.
Can you verify that .NET Framework 4.0 is selected on the Add New Project screen? Also - are the templates the only thing missing or you are experiencing other issues? For instance, can you create a Domain Model and to see your persistent classes in the Visual Designer, when you open the generated RLINQ file?
I am looking forward to your feedback.
