I think a good idea for a new control would be a textbox styled to look like the default sms in the WP7. Attached is a screenshot of what I'm thinking of. This then could easily be used in applications that use chats/messages between people and would blend in quite nicely with the metro ui.

Just an idea.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for contacting us and sharing this idea.

Indeed, this is an interesting idea since this is distinct part of the Windows Phone 7 user experience. However, I am not quite sure that an entirely new RadControl is needed for the case since there is not any special functionality here besides the different appearance.  A simple approach to implement this is to create a control and design its control template so that it looks this way -  with a TextBox and a small triangle at the bottom part of it. Since we find the topic interesting, we will write a blog post describing the implementation of this control very soon.

Thanks once again for the nice idea and do not hesitate to get back to us in case you have feedback or need assistance.

Thanks for the reply. I think a blog post would help out a lot of people out in the proper way to design something like that. I know I struggle with understanding it.

Keep up the good work.
