Hello,

I'd like to clarify a question regarding the MOSS deployment solution for the RadEditor. I read through the documentation that showed how to create a deployment solution for the RadMenu and in it it mentioned that the RadEditor is installed via a Telerik supplied wrapper. I'm assuming this corrolates to the RadEditorMOSS.wsp solution file.

Is GAC deployment a requirment of installing the RadEditor in MOSS, or can this also be deployed via the Web Applicaiton's bin directory?

Hi Daniel,

The RadEditorMOSS.wsp solution will deploy the editor assemblies in the GAC. If do not want them to be in the assembly cache, you can delete them after the solution is deployed and copy them manually to the bin folder of your SharePoint application. Note that in this case you need to raise the trust level of the application to medium or full.

Thank you. I did follow your advice and I have the control installed via the web application \bin directory. I can add a RadEditor web part for rich text. But after activating the features on the site the default rich text editor is still being used to edit the list data. Would this by a side effect of the \bin installation?

Thanks
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Did you recycle the web application after you activated the RadEditor features? MOSS makes heavy use of caching so the cached default editor will still be served even after you activate RadEditor.
