I found that meta tag content is removed upon save when using Firefox (3.5).  Entering and saving meta tag content works fine from IE (8). I was able to verify the problem in one of your online demos:
  1. Open this link with FireFox 3.5 http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/editor/examples/saveindatabase/defaultcs.aspx
  2. Switch html mode and enter a meta tag like the following and click save.

    <meta content="my description"

    name="description"/>

  3. Observe that only white space is saved to the database (see grid).

I saw one post kind of related to this issue:
http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/aspnet-ajax/editor/html-refresh-tag.aspx
It sounds like the staff response may be saying that meta tags are supposed to be removed but I am not certain.

So I am wondering, is this meta-tag removal in FireFox intentional and if not then do you plan to fix it (and how soon)? If this is intentional then please let me know why and if there is any workaround to allow for passing meta-tag content any other way for both IE and FF.

Thanks for you time.

Hi,

To save the meta tag in the DB you should load a full HTML page in RadEditor. You ca see the following demo example for more information: Full HTML Page Edit.

Rumen,

Is there another way to stop the removal of "meta" tags other than full page editing? I just using the RadEditor to collect a set of meta tags that will be stored in the database and a separate control will be used to render the stored meta tags.

Thank you,

Scott

Hi Scott,

I tested the Save In External File demo in IE8 and Firefox 3.6 and noticed that these browsers do not strip the meta tags. You can see my test in the attached video.
